Default Different methanol storage options?

Has anyone considered a different route for methanol storage? I'd feel better if my methanol was stored in something other then plastic and not as close to under the hood as the windshield washer tank. Would also be nice to get 2.5 gallons stored at a time.

Those two c7's that caught fire at cota got me wondering if the tanks melted. Hot weather and hpde after awhile might get methanol to the boiling point (148°), possibly?

Just looking for suggestions. I know we are limited on space.

You can run a remote tank in the hatch cubby. Similar to the dedicated fuel cells used for nitrous setups. I believe those hold 2+ gallons.

I've felt a little uneasy about fuel vapors trapped in the passenger compartment vs having a chance to dissipate under the hood.

I'm a wet sump car and decided to build a system that uses a thick polymer plastic and I placed the entire system where the dry sump goes on the passenger side....

Very easy to maintain and get to, pump replacement is a 2 min job, and I view fuel level with the hood popped

In my experience the w/w reservoir has been fine, w/w fluid is mostly methanol anyway so the stock tank is pretty compatible. I would rather it be outside than inside with me like some trunk meth tanks.

Thanks for the input. I'm dry sump so no go there for me. Maybe I will just wrap the w/w tank with some heat shield. It's pretty close to the headers and those get pretty hot. I wouldn't worry about it if I didn't track the car but I do go to the track every now and then.

Plus it will trip your windshield washer fluid light when it's low.

Never had no problems in the c5 doing it for years.

As long as you're running less than 50% methanol with water, it's not flammable so no real concern there. More than 50%, I wouldn't do it in a plastic bottle.

I run 100% meth no water. Pretty sure 99% of the c7 owners running meth + s/c are using 100% methanol as well.

Some have put heat rap on the outside of the w/w bottle. Robert

No, outside of it. I noticed it sits pretty close to my headers and those babies get hot
