Found out the hard way that you can not run a 20 minute road course session with a supercharger and no catch can system...I have A&A with 3.8 pulley making 7.8psi on a z51dry sump and after ten minutes its blowing oil from every tube and misting it out the hood onto the windshield from the blow off valvewhen I let off the throttle from full pulls up to 130mph. This is driving the h*** out of it though on a 2 mile course with 11 turns and 130MPH straights. I had to pit after 3 laps and clean the oil off the motor all day.
Now for the important question-elite stage three kit for z51 is what I'm leaning towards.. Pros and CONS?? Other suggestions?
If it could be an option to you, I build custom cans and complete crankcase control systems, & have owned an A&A z51 that had the same terrible problem... some just have it worse than others.
here is a dyno vid of a dual can system on my car.
I had the same thing happen to me at Sebring. Same car, same set up, no catch can, same oil spray on the windshield, same mess and couldn't figure out where it came from. We cleaned it up as best we could between sessions and then checked the oil levels and even took about .75 quarts out as we put in a little extra FOR the track. Session 2, same scenario. I am putting an LMR catch can in. We did not see any oil that seemed to come out of blower brass plug. I wish we would have put a piece of tape over the plug just to see if that was where it might have been coming from.
The procharger system worked perfect this weekend on a new track in NH, Club Motorsports. The car did run a little hot with the FMIC, TEMPS were in the 90s. I was able to do 4 runs, top speed with track traffic was 130MPH.
I do not have have a catch can, 18k miles on the procharger system, 2014 base car, air filter has zero oil residue.
It's random from what I've seen. Some LT1's have the oily crankcase vapors and some don't even when using the same exact PCV layout we put in the SC kit. For those that find they have a "oily" motor get with David @ Mighty Mouse for a nice catch can system.
quick question then for you PCV gurus... I bought the elite engineering kit with dual outlets for the z51 dry sump system. First, it came with a clean side system that replaces oil cap and taps into line off the dry sump system but with the A&A kit the clean side line that feed into the intake is blocked off on purpose so I cant use this portion of it. I don't know if other kits (ECS,PROCHARGER) do this or not. Second, the elite kit does not address the clean air supply line that runs from the supercharger inlet to the drivers side valve cover. This seams to be where the oil entered the system from after disassembly and inspection. I am assuming the supercharger pressurized the engine enough to reverse the flow from clean air going in to dirty air coming out??? If I had of known about david I would have went to him for a kit but I already have the elite kit now. I am assuming the MIghty mouse kit has two cans to combat this? Will the elite kit with the second outlet plumbed into the inlet tube be enough to stop this issue?
The questions about your catch can connections need to go directly to the manufacturer, as improper parts use or connections could absolutely result in engine damage.
As far as my stuff, I build single can set ups to 1500hp, however because some C7s have a more severe issue, I have a dual can available. Either one I can supply bare bones components or turn key systems.
For example, a set up like this would normally get my C7 'Wild' Kit, which is rated at 1000hp capacity and $271 shipped priority.

I had the same problem with my brand new Z51. It never went totally away
the engine was screwed IMO. Some of the lt1's are bad. Catch can will not fix the issue. Try to back the timing off which helped some and use a lot torco to see if that helps as well.
You have my sympathy! Your in for a long path of crap then you will sell it.

Bruno,
had a pro racer in the passenger seat making sure the car stayed wound out to the limit. he believed in downshifts in lie of full braking from high speed which I think over worked the engine spinning so hard all the time..y
you are right. Don't take his advice b/c he either is not a pro racer or never has maintained a vehicle. Brakes are cheaper than a tranny and hard on the brakes causes the front tire contact patch to widen providing for better turning ability. Downshifting from 130 rather than using your brakes is nuts
