Default Best cam?

hey guys

my car already has a cam but it kind of small for the ysi 222 238 612 612 117+1.

the car made good power until 6k rpm it started to drop power, my tuner told me it might be the valve spring, so i changed the springs from btw 660 to pac 750,
i think i need a new cam, where to get the best specs for my build?

piston compression is 10.5:1
compstar rods
pushing 18 to 21 boost from a ysi
single meth nozzle on charge pipe + and direct port methanol from nx

I would get a double nozzle on the meth set up at that boost level and wanting more from the set up.

But give www.briantooleyracing.com a call and tell him what set you have and what you are want to look at doing with the car. Plus ask him for your cam what he calls the JAM cam. yes I know it just do it.

Why did you chg out the springs to 750 with only having that cam spec in the car. You need to match all of your set up to work together. That is CAM, HEADS, INTAKE, SPRINGS, not just think here bigger is always better stuff. A lot of the time bigger is worse in most cases. Robert

I'm putting the direct port meth instead of the second nozzle.

i changed to a 750 pac because the spring wasn't closing the valve so good at 6krpm and the car started to drop power, one i changed the springs the car was still dropping power but at 6300 rpm instead of 6k.

Call Brian and talk to him about the reason for that. May be lifters what do you have in the car. I had about same cam only on 118 small street cam. I got the 660 spring from him I was good to 6800 with hyd lifter also in my set up from him. Robert

To the OP here you really need to get with a good shop like this and someone that really knows about the car. A lot of stuff should be added into a cam like what you want, the cars weight auto r stick, Motor size heads, and more to really let it work good for your set up. Plus a big one what is the car going to be used for. Like track only are that and street & so on. Robert

I was running 23 lbs of boost in the c5, I had Brian work me up a set of TF 245 heads with the 6 bolts in them for the RHS 427 motor I had in the car.

After I got my motor almost all together I was seeing 3 r 4 guys putting almost 30 lbs r so to this block and it was cracking it on the side close to# 3 hole. This was on every one of the block's in the same place. So I didn't go over 25 lbs on the motor. With a smaller street cam also I got 1178 rwhp out of the car on a mustang dyno also in a auto trans also.

It ran like a dream on the street also. A lot of good shop out here now more so than 3 years ago but do your asking and checking them out before letting it in their hands. Robert
