There's this thing called the Bernoulli's principle. It basically says that moving air will create a vacuum against non-moving air. Increase the speed, increase the vacuum effect. It's how those round Dyson fans work, and it's how the vent from the radiator to the hood works. It's also how the rear vents on the headlights and lower bumper valance work.

Air rushing over the hood causes a low pressure within the vent which pulls air through the radiator and through that vent - more air than would normally be pushed through it from the front bumper opening.

So yeah, even if you're driving at the same speed, without that vent tunnel under the hood, you're drawing a lot less air through the radiator. You're only pushing air through the radiator instead of pushing and pulling.

Install the vent back on and see if it doesn't make a difference.

What have you got to lose?

FYI to all those reading, A&A did not do this install or tuning.
Kind of sad to see all the greasy finger prints all over that grey intake manifold cover on such a nice looking vette.

We designed our kit to still use the stock air scoop from Radiator to Hood to retain the best cooling possible. I'd get that part installed for sure. Our C7 kits run perfect coolant temps, better than C5 or C6 actually. GM did a great job with the Stingray radiator layout.

Um don't you empty the rad to install?

Did you check and make sure the system was burped?

The cooling fans should cool a car regardless of all the other stuff mentioned.

I hope are didn't think you had to empty it to put the unit on the car. Yes pull the front bumper off and loosen some stuff up.

^Definitely don't have to pull the front bumper off in order to install an A&A kit.

But you do have to drain the coolant system in order to remove and shorten the radiator hose.

Crap That is going to suck I have EVAN coolant in the thing that stuff cost over 200.00 to fill. Well glad to know that good clean pan to get it all to put back into the car.

But am sure will read all of the install info before I start this build.

Yeah, that's what I did.

I also drained the oil because it was a lot easier to install the headers with the dry sump lines out of the way. But, it gave me a chance to put in fresh Mobil1, a new filter, and make sure it was filled by the correct amount.

Once I got the radiator fan off, I put in a couple of pieces of cardboard on the back of the radiator to protect it from any tools dropping, etc. The free rental Chrysler pulley puller from O'Reilly's made quick work of the stock harmonic balancer. Wait to trim the radiator hose until you're ready to re-install it. Don't remove the shroud on the power steering motor connector like the instruction's say - it's fine as it is with the new bracket and tensioner. Don't reinstall the sway bar upside down. It's completely possible and easy to do. Ask me how I know. (/facepalm)

Will be starting this by this next weekend tracking # says will have it by 2/6. I pulled my front bumper off the car may undo the sway bar and this other stuff over the weekend so I can get right on it.. Robert

AA's kit is great and A&A did not do the install and tuning on my car. I am going to the shop again tomorrow and hopefully they will figure out a way to solve the problem. The fan is louder than my exhaust now if standing on the side of the car.

If not, I will pay AA SC a visit next week to have them look at this problem.

Hi Joe, got caught up with school work a bit yesterday.

I was done by a reputable shop in the Los Angeles Area. There are a lot of videos on Youtube showing his cars racing for real $$$$.

The kit was delivered to me straight from A&A. I then delivered to the shop without even having opened the box.

I guess they just thought the fresh air vent would not have any effect on the overall set up.

I just googled his shop, which is located about 45 miles from my location.

Also Robert, my gas mileage has dropped significantly. for the last tank, it was about 11 mpg. it was mostly in eco mode.

Something definitely isn't right! No way should mileage be dropping like that. I still get in the mid 20's on E85 and 750rwhp.

At this point I would stop driving the car and contact A&A.
Make an appointment and have the car towed to their shop.
I have to ask, why didn't you have A&A perform the install?

Wow, I have never been over 20mpg since the day I purchased my car.

before the SC install, I was around 15 mpg. But I was in sports and track mode mostly back then.
