Default 1/2 mile

So im getting ready to do a half mile event in NC towards the end of May. I really want to break 180.

What kind of power will i need to break 180?

im at 860rwhp now and scheduled to have port injection installed in April. Im going port injection so i can get away from being meth dependant and to hopefully run straight e85, no blend. Im not trying to get crazy with power until i upgrade axels etc... but really want to break 180.

My car is a a8 with ysi blower with all the supporting goodies to go with it.

So whats it going to take?

I'm guessing more than 1000 for 180. I'm a novice and only run one half mile event so far. The faster you go the HP necessary to add more mph to the run goes up exponentially from what I understand.

That said, I'm hoping to do the NC event as well and look forward to seeing you there. I'm only a little over 750rwhp and want to upgrade axles and rear diff as well. I'm in an M7 and upgraded to a stickier tire in an 18's so it will be harder on the drivetrain.

Hope to see you there too. You going for 1 or 2 day pass? What did you run your first event?

It will be a pretty good drive for me, so I plan on going for both days. I ran 164 at the first event. Everyone gained a couple mph the second day due to better air, but VR said right around 164 is what they expected for my power.

Bucknut2006 may roll to this event as well. He's over 1000 now that upgraded his blower, clutch, etc.

Wow definitely didn't think it take over a 1000 to break 180. Guess I'll have to reevaluate how much more boost I'm gonna throw at it.

Traction is also a big issue. I have done several of these events and fastest I have clocked so far is a 171. Ive made anywhere from 833-888 at the tire depending on the dyno and the day. You may want to consider removing your spoiler too. It helps for stability and handling at lower speeds but acts like a sail when you are trying to reach top speeds.

Do you have the z06 spoiler or z51 spoiler?

Mine is a base...no spoiler here either. I believe Ben at WeaponX is around 900 on spray and went 177 at the event I was at. I think he may have had issues the second say. He was shooting to break the 180 mark.

The 177 was day 2 and it was the only pass that day. The launch wasn't good or I'd have had 180 in the bag. Rear main seal blew so I was dripping a little oil so we called it a day. Next time out, I'll have a little more juice

Ben, how much power does your car put down? And at the time of the 177 run?

I'm going to skip the NC event since there is one being held in Atlanta. The biggest issue is if you have a manual. The 4th-5th shift is not always the easiest when over 150 and you need to hit it smoothly. Last Spring, I was able to easily hit mid 160's on my old ECS 1500 setup with poor traction at 3k feet.

I saw they just added the ATL one. I'm in for NC and French Lick, IN for sure. I'll see how this first event goes and then decide from there if I'll do others. It usually leads to wanting to spending more money on mods because it's never fast enough.
