Default Piston rings and long pulls

There is a brief discussion on the Gen 6 Camaro forum regarding negative effects of long pulls on the LT1's piston rings with FI.

OP "I have two events coming up which are 1/2 mile runs but wanted to know if 1/2 mile runs are considered "long highway pulls" which could damage the rings in a FI application. *edit* Actually if I'm not mistaken it was mentioned that it wasn't so much due to FI but that the LT1's rings themselves were mainly the cause. I could be wrong though."

One of the replies "Personally I consider anything past 1/4 mile "long"
Its why a lot of guys like 1/8th mile stuff now with really high HP cars pushing it. Cause it's just WAY less time with the motor fully loaded sitting in high gear."

I did a mile event last year in my C6Z; along with my buddy's procharged C7. Neither of us new, or know, about FI LT1 issues under constant load. I really want to go back to the mile and was planning on Procharging my SS in attempts to match my C6Z's numbers; don't think I can beat them unless I cam it too.

The discussion isn't in depth yet, as it just started, but since there's 2 years more LT1 experience here, I'm hoping get some more details on this possible issue. Is it common or more the exception?

I'm planning on supercharging my Gen 6 SS, but don't want to spend $5-6K on a supercharger that I can't comfortably run in a mile event.

I've done many top speed runs on my car 610whp/594tq with no issues. (Speeds of 300km/hr+) Sometimes I feel bad for it and do an oil change and that's it.

My friend, with a supercharged C7, does the same and has had no issues either. Just making sure others aren't seeing said issues before spending money.

we do a lot of half mile and I have 6 C7 lt1 customers making over 800 rwhp stock bottom end that do half mile all the time.

If tune/fueling is on, no issues.

If you got a crap tuner, or borderline fuel, then its dancing with the devil.
