A&A / Vortech V3 bearing life? Mine shot at 10k miles
Bought a C7 with A&A V3 system, low miles, extremely well cared for. I put on another 6k miles since purchase and changed sc oil 1k miles ago. Old oil looked good. Recently rechecked oil before 500 mile trip and all looked and sounded good.
A few days after arriving, I noticed a slight noise around 1500 rpm. 2 days later (maybe another 50 miles) I did a quick run up to about 6k RPM and it suddenly started making a lot louder, lower pitched noise. Drove 3 miles home and pulled the belt. Slight play at pulley with noticable noise and resistance. Impeller looks fine. Still has oil which looks clean on dipstick.
Out of warranty but very disappointed the unit only lasted about 10k miles with good maintenance, not raced, rarely revved above 4500-5000 rpm.
Is this normal wear for these? My first experience with a centrifugal sc.

There is no reason for that besides bad bearings at the initial install. That’s rediculous. These bearings do take a lot of rpm but nothing out of the ordinary. Now the consumer gets screwed.

Former Vendor
Had my Si rebuilt at about 15k miles or so, oil changed every 6000 miles. My oil slinger went bad. They said I overspun it, which to me was crazy considering I have the 4 inch pulley on it. Cost me $800 to get rebuilt, I was a bit disappointed as well.

Considering how long factory superchargers and turbos last that's pretty poor mileage to have to rebuild it. That turns into pretty expensive regular repairs if you drive your car much. I'm looking at using 928 Motorsports to rebuild.

I used 928 Motorsports on mine. A&A didn't offer anything.
