I agree. My wife's GMC Envoy Denali has this feature. It is called "Curb View".
My C5 had the memory package and I used the third memory location (buttons 1 & 2 together) to store that mirror position. When backing out I pressed 1 & 2 together and then I got the "curb view" feature.
