Default c7 and ferrari

motor trend quotes ferrari ceo, amadeo felsa:"We are doing hybrids because if we don't there will be no more ferrari," he adds ""we are forced by fuel consumption and co2 rules."

the c7 and a hybrid model ferrari will certainly have ushered in a new type of sports car by 2015.

the new government regulations I predict will lead corvette and other sports cars to a relatively low point in performance, similar to the 1974-75 regulations effect on corvette. engineering solutions should eventually bring performance back up over time to the levels we see today.

You also have to remember that GM has quite a few vehicles that they can spread their emission requirements over.

Ferrari doesn't. Ferrari doesn't have an Aveo or a Cobalt that they can use to balance the Scaglietti, Fiorano, California, etc.

Plus Chevy has the upcoming Volt and also the Cobalt is being replaced by the new Cruze, which is said to get 40 mph.

Ferrari is part of Fiat. Why can't they spread their regulation requirements with their other Fiat models and brands?

to be a plausible solution. i think i saw in one of the rags a pictrue and article about a porsche 911 gt hybrid varaition to add to the mix.
they should be able to use VW spread.

I'm not sure, but I think it's brand by brand, not company. So a Volt won't offset a GMC heavy duty pickup. I could be wrong though.

Well, if Ferrari could spread the regulations over Fiat, would that even do them any good in North America where Fiats aren't even sold (to my knowledge). It's my understanding that this fereral regulation applies to vehicles sold within our own borders, not necessarily on a global level.

North America is a huge market for Ferrari. If they can't spread the requirements over other economy brands that are also sold here, then they'd be screwed. Maybe this is a small reason why Fiat is attempting to make a return to this market.

At what point might Ferrari's CAFE numbers be combined with Chrysler's?
