C7 performance
It will pull 1.0 lateral g's forces and lap the "ring" in who the hell knows!
Just kidding...but if what happened with the c5 z06 and c6 is any indication...the C7 should perform admirably...first year out...third year we'll see production versions of Z06 or ZR1 like performance models..probably with superchargers or turbos...

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

That's what happens when everyone starts bitching about stupid things they want in a race car. LOL (i.e. "Better sound system." "Carbon fiber everything!" "Leather wrapped interior." etc...)
Eventually when the car is 1:1 with a Ferrari, people are going to bitch that the Corvette costs too much for a daily driveable race car.
You're telling me... I went to a crappy college and I still had to pay $14K a year.
I'm just guessing but I figure the base corvette today is in that price range according to MSRP ...then add options to raise the price etc...
Its not really too much considering I believe the base 1999 Z51 active handling and no other option corvette I bought in sept. 1998 was 40 grand...that 350hp car was a nice sports car.. and got me hooked into vettes.. I think the Z06 I bought after that car was listed at 50grand...and my Base 2008 ls3 Z51 M6 1lt with NPP based at again around 50 grand...
Considering the advancements and the 14 years in between...if as expected the C7 rolls in between 50 to 60 base..thats probably an amazing deal....
I'm betting low low fifties to start.. and then add options for GM to build IAT..(individual average transaction)
I'm hopeful I don't have to buy all the crap I don't want ...just to get a 475hp gen 5 V8...a dual clutch transmission, supportive seats and the best suspension... (and I want it in torch red)
I don't really care about luxury nonsense , power adjustable this or that..I don't really want connectivity.. I don't want to tweet as I drive etc..I don't want navigation.....and I don't want to pay for that crap..
B@lls to the wall... 3000 lb curb weight...475hp..dual clutch transmission.. launch control... Nice big fat super sticky michelin cup tires.. supportive seats...and I'm all in!
55 large with those options mentioned in the sentence above..
leave the luxury nonsense for the guys who dig 4LT's ...I totally respect those guys choices...
just wouldn't be my first choice..when I'm paying...
Its not a question of not having the coin...I always pay in full when I drive off in my new cars.. I just don't need more than 1lt type luxury..(had previous vettes with more options and 6 months later..never looked at or used half of.. them
I do like the ipod plug in feature of my present vette from time to time.. just to pull the songs as I never keep CD's in the car anymore..so that would be cool to keep..Thats the extent of my need for connectivity then....

I believe GM is going to price it in the high $60's to low $70's.

As a value supercar...the corvettes true worth to the corporation is not only its profit per vehicle but also the message that it sends the world.....(IMO)
Supercar for performance at an excellent value..
The economy is in the toilet still...I think in the 50 to 60 range for the base vehicle..
I also remember Mark Ruess speaking about the new C7 on I believe Autoline After hours and the strongest comment I remember from that interview with John McElroy and Peter DeLorenzo...was there will be a corvette for every budget...
Some took it to mean a 30 odd thousand dollar corvette...which I never did think had any merit...(thats what pontiac Solstice GXP's were to sell at when they were hot) I believe the packages will allow those corvette owners who want the luxurious interior to order it up...(and pay for it..)
those who want a base interior could have it their way...
Not sure about the 475hp..thats more a hope being that a direct injection powerplant traditionally picks up about 8 percent more hp...
8 percent of 436 equals....just around 475hp.. but the displacement drop...and recent rumors of 440hp could either be smoke and mirrors ...or thats the number? Hard to really say....
I hesitate to actually believe GM will forgo its heavy investment in planetary gearbox's so a dual clutch transmission is pretty much my desire...but not whats going to come to market...IMO
Possibly an outsourced dual clutch but best bets are on a planetary transmission much like the new AMG lineup has..(that leaves out the torque convertor and goes to complete computer control on the transmission shifting ..
Having test drove the SL63 with the MCT transmission ...I was duly impressed....
So much so I hope GM at the very least goes that route...
Like I said..GM's investment in planetary gearboxs makes me think if anything....the MCT transmission with its better performance and better fuel efficiency (no torque convertor losses) has a better shot..
With the college tuition rates, bank rates, and bank financing resistance, and the lower employment value now of a four year degree, I have a hard time believing anyone will be ready for one right out of college.
Banks no longer "wash" your college loans as they used to in the past, so you are now fully liable on paper for them when financing something.
I believe GM is going to price it in the high $60's to low $70's.
The new vette better have a proper manual transmission. No flappy paddles. Metal on metal, rowing the gears like God intended. I'm very interested in the new LSx motor to be coming out though. 5.5L and it pumps out more power than the LS3, supposedly.
I'm a huge fan of direct injection, and so long as the LSx motors remain OHV and not OHC I hope they add every technological advancement possible.
And someone mentioned the Viper earlier. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out. It will for sure have electronic nannies because our wonderful government cant help but coddle the public. However, it should make it turn faster lap times, and there are rumors of direct injection being added to the 8.4L and the potential for 700hp. I hope so!

I think the interior thing is BS though. The 370Z blows my Z06 out of the water in the interior department in every way, yet costs a lot less. Same for the mustang, or any other car except other GM offerings besides the Cruze. GM has work to do on their interiors, and they are doing it. I cannot wait to see what the C7's interior looks like!
