Sat. AM "Car Pro Show" C7 stuff
Sorry if this is a dupe. This AM I heard the main guy (Jerry) on this radio talk show say that he had seen a C7. He said it was not running. He said it was smaller, looked a lot different (than the C6), and the base model had less HP than the base C6. This radio show has been on for over 10 years, and I guess the guy knows cars. He was up on the '13 427 Convertible and other Vette facts. So, did he see the Transformers "C7" or something more real? He would not go into styling detail as he was told not to. Paging Art Bell!

probably not ... I think the corvette team is keeping things close to their chest... they are not test driving the new model yet. just test driving the inside... engine suspension brakes etc.... wind tunnel the body style... only a select few would see the body style...

If I had a dime for every time I have bumped into someone who says they've seen the 'new' Corvette. Granted, most of those people are so clueless they either think something like GS or a "photo" in a magazine constitutes the "new Vette," but still one can't help but be jaded.

It would make no sense that they would commit to a given hp number this early. There may be rough numbers that it will be between but not until closer to production wold the final hp number be known.

But that '5.5L motor rumor' has actually been quieted/quelled a little bit more recently. Now the talk is of an updated/upgraded 6.2L, hopefully equipped with Direct Injection and some other goodies to help it push the envelope a little more.

I guess I'm one of the only ones who anticipates that it WILL be less than an LS3 corvette.
I also anticipate it will be smaller/lighter though.
I'd gladly take a 400hp C7 that weighs in at 3100 pounds or so.

there's going to be a 5.3 and 6.2, the 6.2 will be used in the corvette, while the 5.3 used for the next gen pick up trucks. For the c7 power for hp should be in the range of 470-485, it will have direct injection that has already been confirmed by GM, and it's probably going to have variable valve timing. Weight is probably going to be around 3100lbs, expect the back end to be narrower, and look more European (Ferrari), with a msrp of 52000$

We tend to assume that all changes will occur at once when a new Corvette generation debuts. That hasn't always been the case. The C7 could continue with an upgraded 6.2L at first, with a smaller more efficient LS, dual clutch trans, and other upgrades coming later.
One thing you can count on, though, is that Jalopnik's illustrations from last November are in fact the C7 (in it's later ZR1 version).

Who is jalopnik and why should we trust what he/they have to say? I don't think anyone really knows what the C7 will be at this point, it's all speculation. Same thing happened before the C6 was released.
