That would be awesome, I will own one if they do. Had not heard about that possibility so thanks for posting that up....Originally Posted by LS1LT1
There is talk that they just might, and it would likely have a variation of the upcoming 2013 Mustang GT500's 650hp 5.8L engine in it as well.

Why couldn't the stingray concept be the new C7? Its not like the original stingrays were special editions or special order.

That must be why every time a Ford GT comes to a car show, some Lambo owner comes up and tells the GT owner how he'd give his Lambo, his left nut, and his firstborn child for the GT.
That's what happens when you build to a vision rather than to some constrained idea of usability and market interest-you create the greatest damn cars in the history of man.

One of the best designs of all time.
Smoking hot.
I'd love to have one.
Just my 2 cents... I don't think Jalopnik's rendering will be anywhere near the production car . From the spy pics, you can tell the C7 concept is out the window too. No offense but Jalopnik's rendering is just ugly. Not sure why anyone is even talking about it.
After looking at the side views of the renderings, the two main problems I have with them are the hood center step and the Camaro lights. Maybe its a funny angle that makes the 1st rendering look bad, but the side views actually look great.

I still can't believe how close this is. I guess just under 50% will be happy with the new design.
Look how good that Ford looks in a HD photo, now take the C7 cartoon drawings and imagine them in Black and in HD. Then you will love it. Big difference between a drawing and a HD photo.

I have been following the threads recently on the Jalopnik renderings and there are constant "back and forth" of who likes it and who doesn't. And comparing the renderings against the concept. So lets find out which is really more popular, specifically to the exterior design (leave the concept's interior design to another post).
So which would your prefer for the new C7, the C7 Concept or the Jalopnik Renderings?

Well, I can't say I like either! If the C7 Concept or the Jalopnik Renderings turns out to be the new C7 then in my humble opinion GM missed the mark. I’m a “died in the wool Corvette Enthuse and owner”, but the Jalopnik Rendering is too much like the C6 with a squared off rear end and sharp edges, plus it looks too much like the Camaro. If I’m gonna spend the big bucks for a new Vette that looks like a Camaro then I’ll spend the little bucks and buy a Camaro and get more bang for my bucks (ZL1).
I think the Stingray overall is much better and just needs some refining(change up lights, grill, side mirrors, and smooth out back).
The C7 concept looks like they gave a C6 to a ricer. Too many lines with Camaro tail lights, Mustang top, Z34 Lumina hood scoops, lip spoiler, and the point of the nose reminds me of a '93 Firebird.

I personally don't think the Jalopnik car is anything close to what the C7 will be.
My understanding, and I don't even remember where I read this, is that Chevy was working a major redesign very possibly switching the Corvette to a true mid engine design but had to cut funding to the project due to the whole bankruptsy and government bailout thing so the C7 was rehashed as more of an updated C6 and the major redesign was slated for the C8. The C7 is rumored to be the shortest production run of any Corvette model ever with the C8 possibly debuting as early as 2016. Of course this is all rumor and conjecture just like everything else we have heard or seen about the C7 so take it for what its worth... lolOriginally Posted by 08crm

Bob Lutz is the one that stated that the C7 was going to be a Mid Engine Car prior to the BK in an interview with Road & Track. Doubt the C7 will only be good till 2016, perhaps 2018 based on what Autoweek had written previously.Originally Posted by SharkByte

Now thats thinking outside the box. Dreams are wings for the soul !!!!! So who gives a crap about what anyone else thinks..
the front of The concept car is very intriguing, the back needs work imho. The jalopnik car just plain misses the boat entirely. It better be light as a feather and have a nice motor and interior, but i kinda doubt it. This car really opens the door for the competition. I think its just ugly, and wimpy looking, but I should really save my opinions until I see it. The c7 car on the cover of car and driver is just yuk. The C6 just looks so much better! Again chevy made it easy for me to save my c5
Thanks
Thanks
