With each new generation of the Corvette, there is a lot of interest in what the car is going to look like and what new features it might have. First we see speculative drawings, then spy shots show up of camouflaged versions of the car, more speculative drawings and eventually the actual pictures of the car will come out.
There’s sometimes suspicion that GM leaks some of the drawings as a means to test the reaction of people, although I’ve never seen that corroborated. Whether it’s wild speculation and inaccurate drawings or information and images that hit pretty close to the actual new design, the folks at GM don’t seem to like it. They naturally want to control the information on new car models.
We took the Keeks thread down yesterday after it had been up for about 24 hours when we got word the material posted might have been pirated material protected by copyright, which would have been in conflict with site rules.
When we were not able to verify the material was protected by law and it had been picked up and used by other Internet sites, there seemed to be no reason not to restore the thread, so we did.
It was locked because, meanwhile, eight or nine other discussion threads on the same topic had been posted and were getting a good deal of activity. Locking the thread also preserved the content in the thread from being edited by any of those who had posted to the thread.
Corvetteforum did not edit the keeks thread in any way. When it was returned to the C7 section today, the images originally included were still there. I see they now have been replaced by Red Xs. What that means, of course, is that the pictures are no longer being hosted at photobucket or the pictures have been renamed so the link posted to them is no longer valid.
I can’t tell you why that happened because I don’t know. Keeks last posted about this time yesterday, although he has been online, lurking perhaps, as recently as a few hours ago.
So were his pictures the real thing or just wild speculation? Time will tell.
