Default C7 StingRay "Turbo-Jet"?

Hmmm, could it be that we will see this moniker sometime in the C7 generation? GM is trademarking "Turbo-Jet"?

I hope not. I'd assume that's for a line of engines to compete with the EcoBoost motors.

That was a motor used in the early 60's for a few years. The "block" was sold to Land Rover. They still use that block today.

Good find Ox...that's pretty cool. Turbo-jet brings back some pretty great memories for me.

I believe you are confusing the Turbo-Jet big block (396/427/454) cast iron engine that was available starting in 1965, to the little 215 cu in aluminum engine that was available in the Buick and Oldsmobile in the very early 60's(1961-1963). The 215 cu in engine was sold to Rover after it was dropped from the American line.

There were turbojet driven vehicles in the 60's? From an aviation background, I hear turbojet, and think low bypass and the f18?!??! Someone explain please

The 215 was at least available with a turbo charger, and water injection however.

It was mostly just advertising rhetoric and hype to make it sound modern and powerful. GM products used the name, but not the technical aspects. Chrysler did build a few turbine powered cars for demonstration, but never went into production.

The '72 Monte Carlo Custom I drove in high school had 402 TurboJet in it.

It also had an American Standard toilet for a carburetor. God, that thing drank gas.
