Availability of high end models of the C7

Was anybody in this forum around when the C6ZR1 was released? Does anyone, other than me, remember the egregious markups on the ZR1 by the dealers when it was first released? If not, good for you. Now sit back and watch what happens when the next ZR1 (or whatever GM deems to call the top Corvette model) is released and you try to purchase it at list price within the first model year.

It was my error assuming that everyone in this forum was familiar with the launch of the ZR1 in 2008 and the associated issues. If you were not around then (regardless of being on this forum, which I was not), you will not understand. If you were trying to buy a ZR1 at that time, you will understand.

Why are you asking a question you clearly know the answer to?
It all depends on your ability to negotiate and willingness to travel. It took me a few months and I had to travel a few hundred miles but I found a ZL1 Camaro at MSRP when everyone near me was price gouging.

Your link was to the 350Z forum. G35 is a nice car but lets be honest here. If you were really interested in a Corvette you probably would have waited for the ZR1 price to lower or looked at a Base C6, ZO6 or Callaway.

My concern now is that I am waiting for the next C7 "ZR1" or equivalent. I am waiting patiently. Can any dealerships following this forum help me with this?

What is your attraction of the G35 over the other Corvettes mentioned?

I love the body on the G35, and the 550 whp I had (till I spun the rod bearing) was an incredible rush. To me, the feeling of being pinned back in your seat while the car accellerates is undescribable. I took the G35 to Sebring for High Perforance Driving School, and running the track was Valhalla. Even though my G35 is souped up, I know a Vette with the same hp will do much better.

you mean you have to be foolish with your money?...

To some people it's foolish. To others, it's enjoying the wealth and success they've accumulated over the years. Who are you to judge them?
A good friend of mine in my car group bought a brand new 2006 Z06 when they first came out. He was also one of the first to buy a 2009 ZR1.

When I was looking, I found the right ZR in Redwood City for $140K. Called the sales manager and told him there were two identical cars in LA for MSRP and that I would give him $1k over sticker so I didn't have to fly to LA - he refused. Got picked up early at the airport and was on my way home on Highway 5 by 11:00am.
