2013 Auto Shows

I had looked into flying into Detroit for a night to see it there, but with the DC auto show just 2 weeks later.. I'd much rather save the bucks and drive a whopping 5 miles to the DC convention center, to see the C7 there with my Dad & close friends.

1) The new Vette would be the main attraction at the '13 DC Auto show.
2) There are 10 million people in the DC/MD/NoVA area. It would seem pretty silly from a marketing perspective to NOT show the new Vette to a market as large as Washington, DC. The only larger market I can think of would be NYC. Which is why I believe they will also show it at the NYC auto show in April.
3) I've been to the DC auto show the past couple of years and they had all of the "new" models on display that were only first shown at the Detroit Auto show a month earlier in January. To include the Caddy ATS in 2012, Camaro Vert in 2011, Sonic/Volt in 2010.
4) This is one of the few chances the public will get to see the new Vette, in-person, until July-August. The factory will finalize production of the 2013 C6 in Febuary and take a couple of months to retool for production of the 2014 C7. Production of the C7 will begin May-June.. which will mean C7's wont be hitting dealerships until the end of the summer.
5) If it werent for the Federal government stepping in to save GM, theres a good chance the C7 wouldnt be produced. With DC being the home of the Federal Gov.. why not show their newly announced, flagship product to those who supported the company through the worst of times in the history of the company. I can imagine there will be quite a few political photo-ops. (Remember the pictures of Obama with GM products & walking thru the factory).
Considering this is GM's flagship car, I would imagine they would want as much exposure as possible after the vehicle has been formally introduced in Detroit on 01/13/13. Its important to inform the public of the technology in the C7, because it will eventually trickle down to many of GM's other vehicles. (Gen5 LT1 engine, Aluminum Hydroformed frame, 8 speed auto transmission, 7 speed manual transmission, new traction control/vehicle stability/performance driving managment modes, Gen3 adjustable magnetic suspension, CF & weight saving exotic materials, CUE infotainment, MyLink/Apps/Smartphone integration, LCD instrument cluster, colour high resolution HUD, etc).

I personally visited both the Philly and New York 2004 Auto Shows and the '05 C6 (PR red Coupe/Silver Vert) were only at the New York Show. I have no info on the 2004 DC Auto Show.
With that, I will venture to Philly as I always go to that one, and wait for verification the C7 is actually at the DC Show, and if not there wait for the same verification for the New York Show. Those last two are a drive for me.

It would still be cool to see the other cars, but the car shows seem to get disappointing more and more each year. I want to see the vette.
