Very well stated Slick with a neat Redneck tone

If one is proactive there should be no worry about "paying over sticker". My guy in Maryland will not jerk anyone around. As far as getting a 1,000 off the sticker I am quite sure that won't be possible for a while. Now, would a 1,000 dollars make or break buying a C7 ? I hope not.

I really love my 2006 Z06. Bought it 2 years ago with 2,500 miles on it and currently have 15,000 trouble free miles. It's the only newer Corvette that I didn't get bored with in 2 years. Love the 427. The car is stupid fast, gets 27 mpg on the highway and is the most reliable Corvette I have ever owned. I made the mistake of buying an early 2005 in 2004. That car was an electrical nightmare that GM ultimately bought back.

If I buy a C7 it will be a lightly used 2nd or 3rd year Z06 or ZR1. It will have to be a very special car for me to part with the Z06.

I personally love the looks of the new C7! If the car GM builds looks like the current pic, my 2011 Grandsport will most definately be up For Sale! I truly love the looks of the C6 body style, but think it is definately getting dated. We have to remember that the majority of the tecknology on the C6 is from 2005. Think of all the other models GM had out in 2005, The corvette was light years above the other models. Now look at todays technology. The C6 just does not have the technology that the new GM cars have. Even my 2012 Cruze has more goodies than my vette does. Just look at all the cool stuff on the new Cadillacs, Like the XTS dash and full color displays. Get a new XTS brochure and read all the crazy tech that that car has. The corvette is still analog with only a blue color. I totally understand everyone wanting tons of horsepower. Who doesn't like lots of power under their foot. But if I am spending 55k on a car I want it to have all the other cool technology goodies to go with it. Full color displays, a banging audio system, LED lighting, better fitment panels etc.....

Agreed. I like the C6 Z06 a lot, but if the C7 is everything I think it will be then I would definitely take the C7 over the C6 Z06.... especially with the LS7's tendancy to go boom. I will probably be in the market in a year or two, and I'm actually more likely to be weighing the merrits of a C7 vs a used C6 ZR1 on the high end, or a C6 Grand Sport on the low end. I still think I'm more likely to choose a C7 against those options.

I never let my electronics go stale...even my C5 is upgraded to newer features. the next upgrade is a mobil wi-fi.

What I'm getting at is....if you like the new stuff, get it installed in your current ride.

I understand the Lemming syndrome since I'm also a child of the modern marketing plans. GM wouldn't be in business if they didn't entice all of us to buy next years offering. But lately I grow tired of tossing my kister in more debt for what?

When the high horsepower LT4 comes out, probably 2015, I will trade in my wonderful C6 Z06 for the C7 Z (whatever it is called).

Alot more than are admitting it.

The C7 will provide Z06 like performance and be a WAY better car in pretty much every other non-performance category I can think of.

Just like the C6 coupe did against the older C5Z06.

I doubt it but if it does that's great. At this point we haven't even seen it yet. I don't think an extra 14hp and 130lb lighter is going to do the trick.

Also you can't compare the C5Z and C6Z with reference to the base cars. The C6Z was much more of a jump.

Do you really think that in the 5 years since the LS3** was announced, that GM engineers adding VVT & DI technology could only come up with 14 more hp?

On 01/13/13 expect to see between 480-500hp announced in the base C7 model.

**FWIW.. you can already order a crate LS3 with a hot cam that produces 480hp**

Too much hp for a base car. Where are you getting your info? I have seen not one reputable source report hp numbers in that range. A major goal was increased mpg and your numbers would kill it. I can see 550 in a C7Z.

Too much hp for a base car? Have you looked at the current HP numbers for 2013 vehicles?

$29,600 gets you a Mustang GT with 420hp - http://www.ford.com/cars/mustang/pricing/

$32,600 gets you a Camaro SS with 426hp - http://www.chevrolet.com/camaro-perf...ecs/trims.html

Is it that hard to believe that spending $50,000 for a 2014 C7 Corvette should give more than 450hp? And I have no doubt it will be announced with more than that 01/13/13. As far as my info. Most of its simply common sense. I have seen what the GM tech has been saying on LS1tech about the LT1.. and he also states the LT1 will be alot stronger than 450hp in the base C7.

The current C6Z06 is an awesome vehicle. Its also been the same vehicle, with the same 505hp engine for the past 8 models years. Expect much bigger things for the C7Z06.

Those are heavy cars. The C6Z is a handful so I can't see that on a base car and like I said it would kill their mpg goals. Chevy is saying at least 450hp so common sense tells me that's what you'll see and that will be plenty with the wt reduction to result in a significant improvement over C6.

I have a 2009 ZR1 with 15,000 miles that i bought brand new. I plan to keep it and buy another ZR1 when the C7 zR1 comes out. I will probably wait until the second or third year of the c7 ZR1 when I purchase. The design of my 2009 will never go out of style in my opinion. The car is a piece of art and holds a special place in the long line of corvette design, technology and history. Anyone who owns one that drives it would probably agree it is so incredibly fun to drive that if you can afford to keep it probably will. I can't help but keep wondering how much better and faster can the newer C7 ZR1 be than what I have now. I know it will be better but I am not certain I could ever explore all my existing ZR1 has to offer. It is just as fun to pilot every time I get behind the wheel. I giggle every time I drive it. Selling it would be like giving up one of my kids for adoption. I know the design might be more appealing with the C7 but mine will always be awesome to me no matter what comes after it.

Having said all that I can't wait to own another incredible machine that will for sure own a piece of American car history. I feel lucky to own one now and I am certain I will feel the same to own another. The excitement of the C7 in the meantime is awesome and I can't wait to see the official release.

I think they already announced that it will be 450 HP. ith a lighter car, you do not need more HP. I took a lot of weight out of my C6Z, which was already a light car in 2007.
