Sorry, but I had to start my own thread. This Corvette is out of this world beautiful to me. We've all been anticipating it for some time now and there were a lot of people on the fence after seeing some design cues, but now that we see the real thing, how can anybody not like what they see?!?!?!? Its GORGEOUS!!! Its futuristic. It look like its going 200 mph standing still. Its a CORVETTE!!!!!!
I'm glad gm has one buyer I think its just a matter of history preference. Those who see the mid years and early c3's as icons want to see history in the corvette. The c7 has little more than the stingray name to recall it's history. It's not so much that the taillights are bad because they resemble the camaro, they've just wrecked the tradition of four round taillights, that has existed since 1961. On the other hand, the people that want the latest and greatest don't see the mid years as anything more than an old car. They want a new, sharp sports car that has world class driving. Corvettes have always had the balance of new and old until now, which is why so many people are upset.
According to the auto week video the 63 split window played a large role in many design elements. How much history and retro you want for gods sake...a remake like the camaro/mustang/challenger? Then you expect some non aerodynamic thing like that to win on the racetrack?
I'm all for tradition, but not just for the sake of making something new traditional. The vette needs to more forward. It needs change. I feel the C7 is that car. Just look at it. You cant mistake it for anything else. Its got Corvette DNA all over it. And BTW, the C2 is my favorite vette. I feel this is the same reaction people had when the 63 split window debuted.

I will agree that I reserved my opinion until this day came and I will honestly say, I am impressed. The only feature I really do not like is the digital RPM gauge. Other than that, I think it looks very nice.
Too bad I just bought a 2013Z. But, oh well. I will love this one until I decide (if I do) to "upgrade".
Besides that, I don't even know if I could afford this new Stingray. (Oh, I hate the name as well.)
I love my C3 and will own it till I die; but the C7 is wicked nice. Yeah I wish it had round taillights and maybe the roof leaked a bit like my car but it doesn't. I'm over it. I want one.
The people that hate the c7 are the ones who are the corvette nut huggers who dont like change. They want 4 red circles as taillights in every new generation. They want flip up headlights even though they went out of style in the early 90s. If every new generation was their idea, the corvette would literally be the same exact car as the last generation. Then it would fall in sales and die because nobody would buy it. This is a new direction for the corvette and i love it. It looks absolutely badass in every angle and this is only the ****ing base model. Which blows my mind.
The corvette is no longer the "old mans midlife crisis" car. Its a true performance car.

In 2006, I bought my '04 and made it my modern day Stingray. Now that Corvette has brought it back, I may have to kick the wifes minivan out of the garage.

The corvette has always been a true performance car, especially after they developed the LS motors, but now it really looks like a world class performance sports car. MIght even attract some Porsche owners.
