Default Bose is back...

Anyone notice in the Autoweek Video:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c7-g...eek-video.html

at around the 8:59 mark the interior shot shows a pod speaker in the door that says Bose on it?

I never hated the Bose system like some did, but I was hoping they would sever ties as they did with Goodyear for this generation of Vette.

Many cheaper to manufacture and purchase systems could sound better in my humble opinion.

Options list posted shows a "centerpoint" surround system, which is unfortunately, Bose.

Best factory system I've had was the acura ELS, though I hear Lexus is good as well.

BlOwSE... Guess having a full blown Krell like the new Acura RL was too much to ask for?

Id pay 60k for an ugly car if it had a Krell in it...

Technology marches on .... even at Bose.
Speaker placement is more than likely very good.
In understand there's now sub woofers.
So...just like before...just swap the speakers.

Hi tech sports car comes with a low tech sound system.

Once again Chevy is clueless, when it comes world class car audio.

What does VW use for their Monsoon sound system? Because that in my loaded '02 Jetta was the best audio I've ever heard in a car.

Wow, that Blows. My 99 Tacoma has a better sounding stock system than my 07 ZO6's upgraded Bose system.

9 speaker Bose system is standard equipment. 10 speaker Bose Centerpoint premium system with a bass box and 2 subwoofers is optional.

You should hear the B&O system in my BMW 650. Sounds amazing.

Strangely, some of the best car audio I've heard came from my dad's minivan with a sweet infinity system. I like the audio in my Acura, and though the audio in my 'Vette is a little lackluster, that is easily fixed. Overall I don't mind the sound, particularly the music coming from my Corsa during WOT.

This is what I do for a living. Sound engineering/Radio. I can tell you, Bose across the board really is absolute garbage. They put ALL their money into marketing, nothing into making a good product, IMO. Go read ANY audiophile website. Bose Blows. Because anyone who knows anything about audio ridicules Bose, that transfers to the Corvette. GM, please, for the love of God, so with a sound supplier that is not the laughing stock of the audio world.

My wifes MINI Cooper S has the upgraded Harman/Kardon system. Sounds great, and the design of the speakers looks like art. On the Vette, just take the standard system and upgrade aftermarket (pain in the ***).

I hate Bose car and home. I spent a mint on my C5 aftermarket system and not sure I will do it again. Focal separates , dual subs etc. This time I think I will stay stock but Bose sucks!!

My second hobby, HT, Dynaudio Confidence Speakers, Simaudio Amp, Classe SSP-800 pre-pro, Rega Saturn CDP etc etc. Cost is much more than a base Vette but once you hear it you understand.

There are other high-end options even if options. Too bad but Vette has to conserve money. Bose sucks car and home....

Dynaudio now does auto for car mfgs. What a dream oh well.

Rick

Bose has some classic, respectable speaker models. However, their method of reflected sound is not for everyone, it is to fit a "lifestyle"... for small packages seemingly creating larger sound dispersion and fake bass.

In that role they are perfectly capable. Any extreme audio niche is going to have its severe drawbacks. Whether lifestyle systems, horns and SETs, large line arrays, planars, or electrostatics.

If you knew audio you would know this. Highly experienced audio types, are even more picky about what equipment they use, and are never in unanimous favor regarding xxx hifi brand.

Anything you put in the Corvette will be controversial.

Sorry but you are wrong. Corvette Forum is great but spend some time here for a bit: avsforum.com (an arguing bitch site but at moments live CV here) Bose is marketing hype. Their products look very good and work but for equal money you can get so much more.

Bose was my first HT years ago. Bose still here and same stuff but my System is world class now (IMO) I will help you via mail here or a call if you would like additional info..

Back to Vette. Bose okay... The car is so hot- I'm over it!! But GM should make a boatload of options. This is where money is waiting. Have they figured it out yet?

Rick

Dynaudio option in a 2010 GTI. Other than needing a real sub added, it's impressive for the $476 VW charged for the upgrade.

Oh well, guess Chevy had to cut corners somewhere, to keep the cost of the C7 down.
