Honestly with what they did with the ZL1, being a 4200 tank and doing a 7:41 on the ring, and pretty good laps elsewhere....people have said it doesn't drive or feel like it's near that haeavy...I think the C7 will be a real treat on the track.
They've put a ton of time into the steering and making sure it transmits info to the driver, super stiff chassis, took weight off the top and front of the car making it a 50/50 balance, added an E-diff.... This car could fly on the track.

I'm 6'3" and 165#, sink like a rock in water and I care about the weight... But I also understand what is being added in order to bring that up and don't see a lot of ways around it. Extra gear in the tranny, injection system at 2kpsi, electric steering system, interior amenities, ceramic heat insulation in the floor, more glass, etc. Well, what do you expect? It's gonna weigh more.

Most of that stuff doesn't add a lot of weight, and I'm pretty sure the car has less glass.....Anyway
Considering they took
99 lbs out of the frame
37 out of the body
25+ at least elsewhere
You'd think the car would be 100lbs lighter, not heavier.
Keeks, what do you personally think it will end up weighing. By the way, we need a little humor in this section. I'm allergic to all the hate in this section recently.
My impression from earlier was that it was supposed to be one of the lightest vettes made.
This was new to me.
I have been working on a few lame jokes for the current tenor of this forum. Lighten things up a little.
1) Obama /Gm is pumped the slight of hand with the new corvette tailights is working............. You won't even notice him taking your bushmasters tomorrow......
2) #camarotaillights is trending on twitter as one of the most popular topics, apparently just edging out #honeybooboomomno mayonnaiseplesse.
3) what does Niki Minaj's and the new corvette have in common? A polarizing rear end, bad fuggin' attitude, and there will be a ton of people claiming they wouldn't ride that.

From the pics I saw of the crank, cam, and then figure all the parts that go along with them, I disagree about the weight added by the fuel injection and vvt. Without even seeing the pump, just the gigantic sprockets on the cam and crank probably weigh 20#, let alone the chain that runs on it. 2000psi is a lot of pressure, those fuel lines are not gonna be some plastic tubing. They're steel, and they're heavy. That entire arrangement on the front of the cam, that weighs a truckload. Lifters for the AFR look to be double in size. That stuff adds up really quick. Tadge seemed to think it added considerable weight in that 30 minute car and driver vid.
I'll reserve judgment till they give a final weight on the car. I can't say what it'll weigh. But I'm betting that when the final thing ships, it will have addressed a lot of peoples comfort and ride issues with that added weight. And while there are a few purists who will balk at that, the majority would like the car to be more of a drivers car, not so much an untamed animal. Ask Dodge how the Viper sales are going. There's a better example of what happens when you ignore comfort and build a racecar unfit for the street. GM is a business, and they're not blind.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
