They tried the polished auminum on the C6 and they failed miserably looked cloudy! Not a good look at all Chrome is always classic to me I guess I'm kind of old school in that respect. Wheels the same color as the car makes it look cheap to me. My logic is Match Box vs Hot Wheels you always wanted the Hot Wheels as a kid because the Match Box looked cheap.

Not true, my polished wheels on my 07 are fantastic and have never looked cloudy going on 7 years. I'm old school and chrome was for hub caps and aluminum was for wheels.

With the proposed option packages, I probably will go with the standard Z51 wheels and standard exhaust. That is probably a $4,000 savings.

In 06 when they first introduced the polished wheel cloudiness was an issue so by 07 they corrected the problem thus giving you a good set. When I ordered my 06 chrome was not available yet so I went with the clearcoat wheels due to that issue.

Mine too. I upgraded to the polished Gumbys in 2008, by that time GM finally got it right

Your correct, in fact the clear coat polished wheels were put on temporary hold by GM and as they looked for another vendor I believe because of the issues you mentioned.

The day I ordered my 07, October 06 on Columbus day, they had just become available again and could be ordered and I did. Apparently they solved the cloudiness issue as I mentioned, to this day, they look as good as the day I got them.

Polished wheels on the C6 were so popular and GM was making so much money off them......that they discontinued them.

I realize this post is not about C6 Polished wheels, but it has somehow
made it to that point

I really like the polished wheel. It is completely finished, even the barrel.

Chrome wheels have some sort of paint / coating in the barrel that make them look unfinished and difficult to clean.

GM / Corvette ruined the polished wheel sales in 08 by supplying a center
cap that did not match. Ist it was a silver painted center cap and then in 09 it changed to a chrome cap. Neither matched the wheel.

The C5 had polished aluminum wheels and the plastic center cap matched perfectly.

The 07 had a center cap that matched perfectly.

The "bean counters" didn't / don't care. That is why the LS3 oil pan
still leaks and the harmonic balancers fail after all these production years.

GM ruined the popularity?

Not sure why the 19/18" gets lots of resistence on here, isn't that the exact same wheels that are on the C6's including the wide-body versions? The 19/18" seem to look fine on the C6, not sure why it wouldn't be fine on the C7.
