Default Sorting through the trim levels / options. Help!

I have looked over the option list for the C-7 and wondered if you recent owners of ordered C-6’s can help sort through all the possible options offered? I “get” that your car was ordered to your taste, but how did you know which options to select or which ones to ignore? It looks like there is not much picking and choosing without buying an entire trim level package. My question is: In your experience when ordering these cars what mistakes did you make, if any? It looks like to me there is a lot of nice gear that could be added, but this stuff is not cheap. I would not want to buy stuff I will never need, yet I don’t want to leave out something that will really enhance my driving experience. The last time I bought a vette there were just line items that you checked if you wanted. That day is long gone! Can you help a brother out in figuring this stuff out so I can make a better decision? Suggestions?

yeah, those days are wayyyyy long gone (thankfully).

looking at the order guide; there's a few ways you can go...

first select one of the main groups 1LT, 2LT or 3LT (there's a bunch you get moving to 2LT but only a few additions if you go 3LT).

navigation is optional on the 1st two, standard on the 3LT.

as for packages:

you can get the Z51 package on any of the 3 (primarily track oriented), there's also 2 top-cover packages if you want a pair instead of just one (base ie color keyed + transparent available on all 3, carbon fiber and transparent available on the upper 2), as well as a carbon fiber package for the interior available on the upper 2.

finally, there's an upper trim package in suede as well (a-pillars and [not certain, but most likely] the underside of the top-cover)... available on the 3LT only.

after all that, you've got individual options...

and these are pretty self explanitory. note there is some redundancy with what i wrote out and the options (ie NAV is listed)

//edit

beat to the punch. ;-)

It is true, at least right now, that in order to get some things you have to go "all-in." If you want black wheels, you have to get the whole Z51 package. If you want HUD, you have to go at least 2LT. If you want nice leather, but not NAV, too bad.

I'm hoping GM opens up the options to allow more mix-and-match.

To the OP;

With my C5 I had the dual roof package. With my C6 I only have the body color roof (standard) and don't miss the transparent roof at all. If it's nice out, I just take off the roof and in the rear it goes!

With the C7 and the new lighter roof, I really will not order either the Visible Carbon Fiber or any dual roof packages. Not that I make a mistake before, it's just something over time that I found I didn't use all that much (( one roof stayed on the car, the other collected dust).

How do you think the selection of a convertible model will affect the options available? (of course that assumes a convert. will be available) Before I got wind of the C-7 I was leaning towards a GS convertible.

Interesting that you have to go to 2LT just to get auto dimming mirrors.

I wonder how long the (late availability) will be for the competition seats? Obviously, I've never sat in either of them, but I am liking the look of the comp seats, just curious how long you will have to wait before you can order a C7 with them.

Looks Like 2LT, Z51, Black Wheels, Competition Seats, Suede inserts, and the performance exhaust in torch red for me.

Someone buy that and make it a garage queen so you can sell it to me used in a few years

I don't have any experience with suede. Is it superior to leather as a seating surface? How much more would you expect that option to be?

I've thought about this, too. I think they mean the outer mirrors (driver & pass side) are optional. The auto dimming interior rear view mirror would be standard.

Since OnStar is standard (integrated into rear view mirror) I don't think you can get a rear view mirror without this autodim feature. I don't think Chevy's gonna tool up 2 different versions just to have a non-auto dimming mirror.

But we know GM...

my C7 will be like my C6, Z51,mag ride,performance exhaust,2lt,black wheels, color difference on the C7, black with red interior, comp seats. Had a loaded C5 with two tops, as the man said, oops, clear top sucked. Traded it for some golf equipment!

I love my clear top on my C6. Colored one stays in the bag.
