Hmmm, I am thinking of replacing my Cadillac 3.6 CTS with an ATS. I "built" an ATS online last week and sticker on 3.6 RWD Premium with a couple of options was a tick over $49K This is the entry level Cadillac and since it sounds like the next gen CTS is gaining size and weight I am going to give the ATS a try. If I replaced my current GMC diesel pickup with an equivalent 2013 it would be over $60K sticker.
$59K given the technology and materials in the base C7 doesn't sound bad to me and I fully expect to go up at least 10K in options. Hopefully it won't go up too much more in 2 years which is my target buy date
It is interesting that a lot of comments want more separation between the Corvette and other members of the Chevrolet stable but apparently that separation has to occur on the cheap.
There are more toys and they are a lot better, the seats and materials are a lot better, and you're getting a significantly more powerful engine. Oh and lets not forget the brand new Michelins Sport tires. Hard to not see a significant increase to me.
Your definition of "significantly" must be off ... just sayin'.
Msrp means nothing. You can get a 1lt base car under 40k, a 2lt GS under 50k and even a new Z06 for under 70k.
I like the new C7 but not at msrp. Sorry it is not going to be that much better performance wise than a C6.
They don't call it the bleeding edge for nothing. Selling at, or even above, MSRP (sticker) is purely a function of it being the brand new model. That won't last forever.
Repeat after me: MT (pronounced "empty") always badmouths Corvettes and anything to do with them. Their cited "59K" number is just their way of being mean-spirited. Other online sources mostly cite a base price of 53K, but until GM tells us, all numbers are a guess.

29-39-49-59-69-79K I dont get it. What are you basing the price on.70k is a bargain compared to what. Nobody knows what this car drives like or what it can do or even if you have seen the final version yet although we probably have and your making these baseless assumptions. At least get one piece of performance data before you start saying it handles better than a PORSCHE for half the price or its just as fast as a FERRARI for a tenth of the price or whatever. You don't know if the dam thing could beat a kia because the only person you know to drive it is Matt Lauer!

Sticker at least gives you an apples-to-apples starting point for comparison of pricing between different cars and different models/option packages.
I'm thinking a lot of dealers are going to try and price gouge the first year (or first 6 months at least) on the C7. I recall seeing anywhere from $5K to $15K mark-ups over MSRP on first model Vettes in the past.
I agree, in the context of this discussion it matters.
As to your comment about markup, several forum dealers have already advertised that they are taking orders at MSRP, and I've even heard a few people claim they are placing orders below.

And Jay Leno (saw it with our own eyes ) and a bunch of mule and prototype drivers.
The question is what C6 were they talking about.....The range is anywhere from 50k to 120k.
IMO a price tag close to 70k will really hurt the sales of the C7. Last year when the 427 convertible came out, a lot of people said they would love to have one, me included, but the 70K plus price tag killed it for them.

even if the base is 53k, with all the options available. im estimated a msrp value for a fully optioned 3lt Z51 at around 70k.
I think it will be even higher---maybe MSRP closer to $80K+.
Remember, there will not be 2014 Corvettes offered for sale having MSRPs similar to those of fully-optioned
Z06s or ZR1s...there is only one base model (until the C7 'vert arrives late in calendar 2013/early 2014).
And the 'vert is likely to only have starting MSRP of $5K-$6K more...

and i thought paying 80k for a Ron Fellows Z06 was a ton of money back in 07...
Don't even get me started...sports car? This "sports car" can't even beat the Camaro ZL1 OR the SS1LE on a track with over 100 more HP and 200+ weight difference.
I think you should go back and re- read the road tests.
