Good morning!!!! I'm back. A quick check this morning of 3 BMW forums or blogs. BMW Blog had no threads regarding the C6.4. Bimmerfest likewise no threads. Bimmerpost had one thread regarding the new C6.4 and there were many positive comments. There were negative comments sprinkled in regarding the interior, rear end, and vents. So there were some negative comments. No posted indicated an interest in buying a C6.4.
I keep telling you the new Corvette is the C6. The C 6 is actually a 5.4.. Heck even the frame is the same on the last two models.
I think the Porsche, BMW, AMG and Ferrari crowds are so sick of getting raped on dealer service rates and parts, that they are willing to give the new kid a shot,.................God knows it is fast enough and very reliable.
They are just pissed about the tail lights because that is the only view of the C7 they will become familiar with.

If you have money to buy a Porsche, you have money to fix it. Far as "the C6 crowd" being negative about the C7. People who were able to buy a C6 can buy a C7. My opinion is the car has more appeal to euro car fans & the younger crowd. I know a guy with a TT viper who said it's a decent car but he wouldn't buy it. The car will be respected, but I don't see the hardcore eurocar guys buying a C7.
I drive a Lexus and a BMW and let me tell you there is no comparison in service. My Chevrolet dealer who I bought my C6 from is nothing more than a used car salesman wearing plaid pants. Lot's of complaints from Corvette club members about the sponsoring dealer.
The broad global praise for the C7 is a clear indication that GM did things right. People from all walks of life are appreciating the C7 which is fantastic.
Most of the negative comments come directly from the Corvette forum itself. I think that's because it's such a departure from the norm that is drums up a lot of emotion with owners.
I think we'll see a lot of other brand sports car owners crossover to the Chevy brand to buy a Corvette. People know they won't be able to find a better overall sports car shy of 100K. The C7 is just too good not to consider if you're in the market for a new performance machine.
Rennteam is 50/50. A lot still won't buy a Corvette because of the image (gold chain, bald, fat old man). Ferraris, Bentleys and the like, are (often) owned by so-called "white collar" criminals.
The ones who like it are open minded, but they anticipate the price because of VAT taxes and Euro embargo on American cars will make it to expensive. Unfortunately this is true, to a certain extent. Yet, the bang for the buck remains unsurpassed (with the exception, maybe, of the Nissan GTR - which is butt ugly, IMO).
Most of the Europeans on the forum simply say regardless of performance for dollar value, they would not be caught dead with a Corvette in Europe. Those are complete idiots. I am not one of them!
They say it sends an undesireable PIMP image. Let me be called a PIMP then, it doesn't bother me at all.

To me, the new Stingray is a gorgeous car! I still love my 2006 Z06, and will always do. And it still doesn't look outdated to me.

go to the z4 forum 2009 to present. they arent talking about the c6. they are talking about the c7.
Opinions vary,..............but I own a Lexus LS and a BMW 3 series and although the service at both dealers is good (especially Lexus),......the pricing to repair or diagnosis even the smallest problems is outrageous and don't even start the conversation on the price of parts.
I have only gone to the Chevy dealer twice (once for parts and the other to complete a recall on my Corvette).........and although not as refined as either of its competitors, it in fact got the job done at a reasonable price. I also always ask to have the shop foreman or one of the master mechanics work on my vehicle.

Finally a sensible comment from the Europhile, although not all Chevy dealers are like this. But, there should be no comparison given the price of the ticket...

Totally agree the Corvette is too good not to consider. I think there were many crossover buyers starting with the C6, Z06, ZR1 already. I was one of them myself. I ordered a Cayman S and cancelled after test driving a '07 Z51. Bought a '07 Z51 which was the first domestic car I bought in 30 years. Sold the '07 and considered a '08 M3 and a Cayman S again after selling the '07 Z51. Ended up with a '08 F55 instead. Got rid of the '08 C6 for a few other cars on my bucket list. I drive a Porsche C4S with PDK today. Guess what? A C7 Z51 is definitely going to be on my short list for my next car if they offer a better automatic option. I heard a dual-disc PDK style transmission is out. AMG has a great auto option, hopefully the new 8-speed will be as good.
I think GM did a great job on design with the possible exception of the rear. It is starting to grow on me. Lets just say the look of the rear end would not keep me from buying one if a better auto transmission were available and if the C7 has improved road feel.
I think the C7 is a home run. Personally I believe GM will come through with a better automatic, hopefully soon. Then it will be a grand slam!

Jeremy Clarkson says we'll have to sleep with our sisters though, so thats still going to be a big ask for Europe to give it some respect!
The hell with Jeremy Clarkson, he is totally impressed with British cars (TVR, Jaguar, Bentley) that are either foreign owned or have horrible reliability records........and rags on Corvettes that either match or best his 200k plus favorite cars at half the price (who cares if the GPS brings up fast food restaurants or the end cap presses in at the center). He is a glorified game show host on a car show that happens to be more popular than more serious productions.
The Reliability, reasonable pricing and true performance (of the C5, C6 and soon to come C7) trump his overpriced and totally biased preferences.
Ya, but at least Jeremy tells it like it is, is a real enthusiast and describes cars in a way that makes you understand what they may really be like. He clearly has a UK bias (just like you probably have a American bias) but as long as you know that, there is no issue. His real power is that he is unbiased when describing cars in general, which no one can say for American car journalists and reporters... pathetic! Top gear rocks!

I agree wholeheartedly. Our Lexus experience is great but the labor rates and the price of parts are not cheap after the warranty ran out. I have had crappy service from some Chevy and Pontiac dealers but I found a Chevy dealer who has grown their Corvette service department and gives us discounts on labor and they treat you good. I took my Vette there yesterday for an oil change and the Vette mechanic saw I was in the office, came in, said hello, shook my hand and asked how my day was going. We chatted a bit and then later he did the work on the Vette. It is the only place I take my Vette.
I got on Rennlist and read both 991 and GT3 RS sections. The GT3 RS was 28 pages long. Overall most Porsche guys were positive and in fact some were very excited about the C7. A couple that had seen it at Detroit gave WOW comments. They were very impressed and some are considering buying one to track since they think it' going to be a rocket ship that will also be rock solid and reliable.
Porsche and C4 guy here and I love the C7. Most folks I know love the C7.
