The specific shape can also be used to direct the pedestrian towards a spot on the hood which will inflict the least amount of damage (due to flex of the hood) to the cranium.

There is of course an aero benefit of the specific shapes as well in that they will offset drag induced lift components from the rear of the car by acting as dive planes at the lowest frontal area of the fascia.
Thanks for the information. However, is this really a problem that required corrective action? Is this only required for low-profile sports cars or all cars in general?

Easy now. If you go applying that kind of logic to government regulations. . . . you'll go crazy.

Oh, of course it is....the government certainly wouldn't waste your tax dollars researching & regulating it, mandating that the auto manufacturers incorporate the "fix" into their vehicles, and ultimately making you pay more for your car if it wan't necessary!

I think those pointy things are there so when a dumb @$$ fooling with a phone walks in front of oncoming traffic you can scoop his @$$ up over the car instead of just running over the top of him.

I believe the pointy fangs are just one solution to meeting the federal regulations, not the only solution. Looking at other new cars, that also have to meet the same federal regulations, most do not have the pointy fangs.

There was a Jeep positioned behind the C7 in the video clip Q&A with Harlan Charles. It did not have the pointy fangs, and from the floor to the bottom of the bumper, one could run over Rosie O'Donnell and never notice it.

There are only so many ways to skin the cat and as such, I would expect many of the new cars will have similar "fang" looking protrusions down low.

That or GM just copied Honda because the Civic is so cool!
The fangs in the civic looks way better. It actually blends into the car unlike the Vette.

HEY OP You are missing the point, the fangs will only clip the strippers heels in you avatar, she will live to dance another day. Trade in a C5,C6 on a C7 and you may save a stripper, 4 year old brake grabber, or a cat.

P.S. I know you were being sarcastic/humorous. Aren't you sorry you asked?
At least when they face plant into the hood after they get hit in the ankles they won't have to worry about the ankle thing hurting.

Can you imagine planting your face into that big *** cheese grater that is located on the hood. That should feel real good.
