Those of you that buy your vette from a not so local dealership, how to you get your vette home? You get it delivered or you drive the car all the way back? In my case, Kerbeck is about a 2 and a half hour drive from me, about 150 miles if my memory serves. I don't mind driving that distance, but driving back in a brand new Corvette that I don't want to get a scratch or a rock chip on before I even get it home, would be a bit nerve wracking. That and I know highway cruising at a high speed, constant RPM and speed isn't good for a brand new car that hasn't broken in yet.
We're about a 4-5 hour drive to Atlantic City. Someone in our local Corvette Club got a quote from Kerbeck, took it in to the local Chevy dealer, walked out with a bill of sale for a similar Corvette only $300 over Kerbeck's price. That's not a bad deal at all... especially as we're still kind of a hometown kind of place where "buy local" loyalty means something to the dealer when it comes time for service.

I was looking at a new 2013 GS coupe($63,125 MSRP and it was discounted $10,731 plus I would get an additional $3,000 off with my corvette loyalty discount for a grand total discount of $13,731.

I doubt if it will be too long(Feb-March, 2014) before we see $5,000-$6,000 discounts on the C7's.

With the interest shown in the C7 and the stock market at record highs I don't believe you will see major discounts during the first year of production. Dealers in Southern California are quoting astronomical add-on fees for the C7.

I'll happily make a friendly wager with anyone who thinks there will be 10k discounts in one year...
When the C6 came out, the mega dealers were at MSRP the first year. Local guys with few cars to sell tried to maximize the profit for each one. We ordered our 2006 in July 2005 at MSRP. Local guys were still 5K over. Mini discounts started in 2007, but didn't get serious until 2008-09. Real serious today. We aren't waiting because we want to drive a new Corvette. Not a car on its last legs model wise. Just us, but MSRP is the name of the game. Pay to play.

In Oct 2007, I was looking at a new 08 Z06 for $8500 off MSRP. In July 2008, I purchased a new 09 Z06 for $11,477 off MSRP.

Today, a forum dealer will take my deposit on a 2014 for $1000 under MSRP, and he has allocations. If I can get $1000 off today, what will I be able to get a year from now? $5000? 6000?

Which means the used C6's drop $10,000 in value which is a sad thing for owners. All Late model Corvettes depreciate but these numbers are scary.

Sure can laughing boy, but the LOL is on you. If you have the money to purchase a new 2014 C7, then give Wes Milby at Reliable Chevrolet Chevrolet a call in Springfield, MO.

These cars are made to drive and don't worry about the break-in, just follow a few simple rules on the way home and your new vet will be just fine. Do a search on here and you'll discover that it is the perfect way to take delivery.

1. We wont' have any C7's but you can buy a new Stingray for 12,000 over sticker!!

2. You can order a 2014 C7 today and take delivery May 31st. I told the salesman I think the first build will be July 1st 2013. He assured me he could have a new 2014 Corvette here for sure by Memorial Day!!!
Contact all the Forum Dealers and evaluate and decide after you talked to them all.

My recommendation is Tommy Jr at MacMulkin Chevrolet.

And like most/all the Forum Dealers they will set up Museum Delivery or, .. ship hassle free worry free anywhere in the USA

We're in a different time today. I'm not sure what difference this will make, but, the C5 was coming off a very strong run, saleswise. The C4 was Chevy's most popular Corvette, from a sales number standpoint. The C5 was very strong. The C6 started strong, although not as strong as the C5 had been. The C6 has dramatically faded. Currently, Corvette sales are at the same point as mid-60's C2 sales. Chevy needs to double current sales with the C7.

I think big dealers know they need to sell, sell, sell. I also think bigger dealers, especially those who have been around the block, know the hype is good, but hype is only good for so many sales. The smaller dealers may attempt to hoard their 3-4 Corvettes/year because the media hype is telling them the world be beating a path to their doorstep. (This approach has not worked well for Ford dealers who hoard their 1-2 Shelbys per year.) But, small dealers will more than not take this approach. That's fine with the bigger dealers because they'll order what you want at competitive prices, as always. And, the market will determine the competitive prices.

Bottom line, how many new Corvette buyers will be drawn to the C7 and become buyers? Remember, Chevy can make about twice the number of C7's than C6's made in the recent past. So long as the demand does not more than double, there should be enough to go around. And, if the demand is not substantially stronger, the question becomes where does the Corvette evolve and what will the price point be?

I went to my local Hendrick Chevy dealer in Shawnee KS to claim my prize from a car show last year it was a free museum delivery with a vip tour and 1 year membership !! I have already been on the tour once but wanted to wait till the C7 was up and running ,the sales manager told me he had 45 pre-orders for the C7 and that was a few weeks ago probably a few more by now.

I purchased my new '12 Coupe in October. The MSRP was $54,415. With the rebates and discounts...bought it for $40,150. The car was also delivered to my door. (375 miles from the dealership)

Great deal, but if I tried to trade it now.....it's worth in the low $30's with only 3500 miles on it! That was a quote I got from a Forum dealer.

It sucks but it is a car and they depreciate, new one 's 10k the minute you drive it off the lot but what are you going to do? Not buy what you enjoy? I can think of worse things to blow my $$$ on!

I had a guy that called and told me the same thing, tried to make him understand and he THOUGHT I was nuts....not sure why some guys spend so mich time and representing the car - WRONG...

Finally I told him, if you place a retail order and take delivery by April 1st (is what he said some weeks back) I told him , I'll pay for your entire car......he still did not get the fact his local was incorrect and was giving him a deposit back in late Feb.....

I have many other thoughts on this subject but will reserve my enegery for those people that will in fact be getting a car and looking forward to sharing the moment with them...

These next few months will fly by....hang in there guys but as I have also said, we have a great car to exit and consider, I am thankful GM did not give up on the C6, the few improvements over the last couple of years have been outstanding!
