You yourself were carrying on, in this thread, about the 911. And that's precisely the target GM's after with the Corvette. While I'm personally no fan of the VW-on-steriods, the car is undoubtedly a benchmark of sorts. And that's the benchmark GM wants to exceed with the Corvette. And Tadge has already made that public through interviews with magazines, etc.
The Viper is line noise to them. That won't stop magazines and fans of each marquee from comparing the two cars for however much longer FIAT allows the Viper to exist. But as I said, GM specifically doesn't care.
Need another hint? I posted this in another thread a while ago: http://bit.ly/12EWez1 The writer ran into Lutz at the Detroit show shortly after the C7 was introduced. Of the recent competition where the ZR1 had topped the Viper, the old man said:
He's giving you insight into what's going on in the minds of the Corvette team right there.

I am sure you know what delusion of grandure means, right? Both Tadge and Bob seem to demonstrate the symptoms, not necessarily a good thing.
For the record, I am not a great fan of 911, I have a lot of respect for it but not my cup of tea. I mentioned it to illustrate something that may be applied to more than one car, this one just came to my mind, I guess I could have used Morgan instead.
There are certain things ZR1 will never top, mainly the personal feel of the car and preference, to say ZR1 is visually and emotionally inspiring would be a considerable stretch. This is the biggest problem I see with all corvettes.

Calling Maximum Bob and Tadge out as both being delusional is a ballsy maneuver. I know what each man's resume looks like from an automotive perspective. What's yours look like? Whip it out.
Here's a fun and helpful hint: when you look around you and all you see is dirt....
I don't mean to jump on this thread so late however, did you hear some of the Video topics?!?? It sounds like ALL details will be released in April.... Order forum, HP, weight, track times.. EVERYTHING....
BlueOx... What options are you getting on your C7? I might have to opt out of the Z51 to save a few bucks.
2LT, NPP,Carbon Dash, M7, Black on Black on Black, Clear top

Do not flatter yourself. if you want to add touch of Europe to Corvette, you hire Europeans to get the job done, preferrably someone with some clue and touch with reality. Yes of course, C7 will be the bees knees in Europe... And hey, I just happened to drive part of their resume, on the fourth vette and first viper right now. As I see it now, Bob and Ralph got considerably more validation from Europe than Tadge got. That Alfa Zagato using Viper chasis and drivetrain seems like a pretty good validation to me.
I'm not sure how or where I attempted to "flatter myself". Is it because I know of their respective automotive resumes? You could know it too, if you did a wee bit of research (ie: READ instead of POST).
I think your reading comprehension leaves a bit to be desired.

It's amazing that while you've never met either man, you seem to have an excellent view if their respective grasp on reality. You're basically insulting a paragon of North American automotive success, as well as the chief engineer of a car that he's helped craft into a significant powerhouse (see: Z06/ZR1).
So what have you done other than post baseless opinions on an Internet chat forum?
Am I falling for yet another CF troll? Can you possibly be this ignorant in reality? Are you destined to be plonked like a few other "luminaries" here? Hmmmm.
So are the C2s, that still bring six figures at auctions!
Obsolete doesn't mean "not valuable"
The C6 is getting tossed in the bushes though. Don't see why its a bad thing. Some on here will be stuck in denial mode until the numbers come out but I'm betting they won't be once its all said and done. Their trolling probably won't stop though. See said troll above.

You are a funny guy. Considering I ditched Z06 for a Viper, I would say Bob wins and not because Viper had any continental flavor to it.
he said “it takes almost no time in a C7 before you realize the C6 is obsolete.” Tadge also claims the Corvette Stingray will be the highest volume car with standard carbon panels.
Quote from Sebring
He was speaking about the new technology not the car itself.
Thanks for posting. Hadn't seen that.
Tadge did misspeak. I'm sure he wishes he could take it back. But let's face it, the C7 should be better than previous generations. Why build it otherwise?

I'm not sure what obsolete means in this context and how important it is in the overall driving experience. GT-Rs are technically advanced but are widely criticized for lack of driver "involvement". I'll take a car with less "technology" but more "character" any day.

You're dodging the question repeatedly, Peter. What automotive accomplishments, engineering or otherwise, do you have under your belt that allow you to blithely denigrate both men and call them clueless and/or delusional? Anything other than spending some money?
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
