Are you saying that what I mentioned is pure coincidence? I would like to think so too and I would if I could somehow dismiss the chronology of events. I do give the Corvette team big cheer for usually surpassing the Viper team in terms of peformance. I cannot however extend this to the styling part that always seems to fall short of Viper.

In my opinion the Viper is cartoonish. In other words over stated and exaggerated. But that is opinion of course

It is. GM's sights are set squarely on the Euro sports/GT cars, not the Viper.

I cannot however extend this to the styling part that always seems to fall short of Viper.
And there's no accounting for taste, it seems.

Only if you like over done styling. The entire new Viper is even more overdone than the rear of the C7.

Slow, fugly clownshoe that finished 5th at Sebring. I wonder how much crying Ralph is doing to the ALMS folks already.

And this explains why you drive a corvette. The best part of Viper is that is so outrageous, spending your life all grown up sound pretty boring to me but this is just my opinion.

Hey, just read how much whining he did to Motor Trend, then came back 3 months later with a juiced version and still only beat the ZR1's record by .08 sec., without the ZR1 there to answer on a different day with different weather conditions.

I'm betting he threatened to pull part of his ad budget cuz they kissed his butt pretty hard.

Now I have been assured that you are not grown up, I feel much kinder towards your post. I suspected that was the case but was not sure until now.

You yourself were carrying on, in this thread, about the 911. And that's precisely the target GM's after with the Corvette. While I'm personally no fan of the VW-on-steriods, the car is undoubtedly a benchmark of sorts. And that's the benchmark GM wants to exceed with the Corvette. And Tadge has already made that public through interviews with magazines, etc.

The Viper is line noise to them. That won't stop magazines and fans of each marquee from comparing the two cars for however much longer FIAT allows the Viper to exist. But as I said, GM specifically doesn't care.

Need another hint? I posted this in another thread a while ago: http://bit.ly/12EWez1 The writer ran into Lutz at the Detroit show shortly after the C7 was introduced. Of the recent competition where the ZR1 had topped the Viper, the old man said:

But you know, to me, it’s not just competing with the Viper, although I like the fact that two great American sports cars are vying for preeminence. But I think if you guys in the so-called expert media business, can you bring yourselves to start comparing Porsches and Ferraris and putting them in the same test, as opposed to five great European sports cars and then the next issue is three great American high performance cars — start mixing them up! And show the public the Corvette is an international outperformer not just a domestic one!
He's giving you insight into what's going on in the minds of the Corvette team right there.

Train wrecks, car crashes and pro wrestling all draw crowds.

Just sayin....
