And I am neither ignorant nor stupid, I have first hand knowledge of the field of education. If you don't believe the educations system provides those that want to learn the opportunity to advance themselves you are sadly mistaken.. As are most Americans who are willing to spend more money on football tickets, bass boats, and other non essentials than they are on the education for their own children. Let alone what they are willing to spend on the education of people they don't know..

And even with all that, I live in a county where teachers are paid even less than national average, in the state where amount of money spent per student is the lowest in the nation (yet by the center for applied economic research in Montona was rated 2nd in the nation for teacher quality), and the county public school system here has been one of the best in the state for many years, and #1 in the state for last three years. The best of the best with virtually no financial backing.

The ability to learn is there, most people just don't care and won't try.

As long as parents and society in general do not put any store in education, children won't either.

And in general people aren't stupid because they are uneducated, they are stupid because they are lazy. Hundreds of people at an environmental rally signed a petition to ban dihydrogen monoxide when asked, no idea what it was and didn't bother to find out.

I had a secret desire to start a thread that would break all records. As the OP I had no idea that it would go this far and change directions so many times. I want to thank you all before the Forum puts a cork in it.

PS. I am a senior citizen, not GMs wanted demographic, and I am a strong supporter of continued education. I am also getting one of the first C7s and am as happy as a clam.
I said clam so I could be attacked by those who do not get my humor.

And clearly, 'C7 makes C6 obsolete' thread's sheer volume of hits (well over 18,000) proves the case.

IMO it is more accurate to say The opportunity to learn is there, most people just don't care and won't try rather than say that The ability to learn is there, most people just don't care and won't try.

I guess I'm one of those oddballs that buys the car he wants which is dictated by his wallet. All those who insist the C6 is obsolete obviously can afford to buy the new car. Those of us who are happy with our umpteen year old Vettes just yawn and look for a new thread.

I'd say a LOT of us are in that club. That is one of the reasons I don't ever buy new.

I would normally buy used. Most used late model Corvettes are low mileage well kept cars. This new Stingray is a bucket list thing for me.

Not that it has anything to do with the OP, or without getting political, but the education system in this country is broken. Ignorance and stupidity are not obsolete - they are more rampant than ever. Kids are graduating that can't even fill out a job application much less create a resume.
I do agree that the opportunity is there in some places, but not everywhere and that the parents and kids do share responsibility.
I disagree with the blanket statement that modern education has made ignorance and stupidity obsolete. What that had to do with the original discussion Idk.

Tadge makes an isolated poor choice of a single word and the C6 boys get a wedgy that runs 900 posts, simply amazing. Tadge would likely have been more accurate to say that as expected the C7 will be an improved Corvette over the previous generation. That would likely have been more palatable to the sensitive sector of the C6 legion.

Gadgets was speaking about the technology NOT the looks or style of the car in my opinion.

Technology makes car better if it improves its performance and in case of sports cars, reduce their weight. Let us see what the effects are before jumping on the bandwagon, should be easy to comprehend, I hope?

I'm sure the same things were said during the C4s life and evolution
There's more to increasing performance than just decreasing weight. If it were all just about weight the L88 C2 would still be one of the kings of performance, and El Fatso would be objectively slower than a Gen 4 F car.

If you cover the basics such as low weight and good power, other things are easier to incorporate to create a great car. Low weight and high power are the key but as you said, meaningless without covering all aspects of car performance.

However, if the technology results in negating the basic rquirements, it tends to be self defeating, at best reducing the possible outcome. At least it seems to work this way to a simple mind as mine

Agreed, who in their right mind would be settling for a car that can be revved up above 2k at idle, wear those obsolete wide tires and run on eight cylinders full time?

The L88, I would take one of those over any Vette!
