While I agree... they say that the Raptor "obsoleted" the Lightning (F-22 v F-35) ten years before the latter was developed...
Our military has a funny definition of obsoleting previous aircraft.
The Lightning has engine issues (last I'd heard) and the 22 kills it's pilots by suffocation.
And these planes were meant to replace the F15 and F18?

Yeah... if given a choice, I'm choosing the super hornet every time...

(but we are way off topic here...lol)
....and you would be SMOKED by a Viper, everyday, any day ;P
The Superbug is a bomb truck, a really good one; but in ACM it be a pig.
Sorry.
Like you said, WAAAAY off topic.
I don't agree that the C7 makes the C6 obsolete. The C7 may be an improved corvette with newer technology (?), but there will likely be C6 qualities that will be missed, but not forgotten.
As a viper owner (on my second, Gen II, now Gen III), this is very evident as it's not uncommon for Gen III/IV owners to be drawn back to a Gen II. Someone posted that he had driven different Gens and noticed they all seemed unfinished. That is true in a way. Vipers are raw, crude and way less sophisticated than the modern corvettes. Until the 2013 model, none had traction nor stability controls. I don't know anybody that uses a viper for a daily. The three C5s I had were all DDs.
It is that very crudeness that is a huge draw for the viper owner, to the extent that many interested in the 2013 Gen V are already planning to disable the Federally forced nanny controls. Another huge attraction to the viper is the limited production (I think about 29,000 made since 1992). For many that is the most important number, not drag/race times or hp.
I am not into brand loyalty and will be looking to see what the C7Z06 delivers before deciding upon a Gen IV viper. I don't care for the looks of the 2013 viper and don't want the nanny controls.

New and sophisticated is not necessarily better if fun factor goes away

Okay, so yeah you got me there... I agree on the 16 over the 18, I only mentioned the 18, because I was talking 22 v 35 and lots of folks say the 35 is supposed to replace the 18, and the 18 supposedly replaced the 14 as the new multi-role combat fighter...
It is really amazing to observe the reactions to this insignificant, near meaningless, poor choice of one word. This sure busted some *****, quite entertaining!
Why is this thread still here...turned into garbage and if this was any thing close to criticizing a C7 this would have been locked down. Geeze kill this crap thread IMHO of course
