Ok, I know its not even released yet, but I wanted to know what you guys think a 1 year used corvette would cost? Assuming the general idea that the base price is 54K.
I don't really like buying new because of the instant depreciation, but if all I would be saving is about 3k than I would go new.
Do you think I could get a used one for 40k?
I don't need the Z51 package, but I like the Z51 spoiler a lot so I could always purchase that separately right?
Considering there are people selling there 09-10 C6's for $40K.. no you won't be able to find a one year old C7 for $40K
They may be ASKING that, but considering you can get a brand new 2013 for $40K, and a new GS for a bit less than $50K, I doubt they are getting that...

Its going to depend on supply and demand and allocation of new C7s. When C5 came out 1 year old used C5s were selling for almost as much as new ones. You could trade from one model year to another for only a few grand difference. It didn't matter new or used they were sold as soon as they hit the lot. Don't look for much more than 5K off of original MSRP for a one year old C7 with low miles. Only if the car is a bomb will prices be lower and I don't see that happening. No way will you see a close to $60K MSRP C7 selling for 40 grand used the first year with a good CarFax report.

As I actually prefer minimal content, I REALLY wish I could afford to pull the trigger on one of these. $39K for a new 430 HP Vette? $47K for a widebody with the Z16 upgrades you get with the GS? You have to put a very high premium on the improvements on the C7 to justify spending the extra $15K or so the "equivalent" C7's will cost you. But then, there are lots of folks who justify the Porsche premium, and from there the Ferrari premium, so I certainly get it -- I just don't live in that world...
Assuming MSRP really is $54k for a base model.. that means one year old C7's should be running about $45-49k. Price will be more or less depending on milage & options.
Market is really weird right now, used cars have been increasing in values (sports cars in particular) due to a few factors.....low production numbers over the past few years, inflation, incentives on new cars.
IMO the used market is in a sellers swing right now, in many instances (C6's for instance) you get more bang for your buck buying new....but used 2005's are still fetching upper 20's!
I don't think you'll be getting any good used deals on a C7 until the used C6 prices drop big.

Not a chance! C7 owners are not gonna price their cars below the asking price of C6 Grand Sports....... A 1 yr old C7 will still fetch 52k at least.......I'm calling it now.
This is a pretty ridiculous thread. The pricing isn't out, the car hasn't been released, no one has purchased one yet, and the questions is "Can one be had for $40k in 18 months?"

First let's establish that MSRP is meaningless. The market supply and demand determines the price. So let's just start here by saying that the used price of a car that CURRENTLY sells for 54k (this could still be over or under MSRP or even an increased MSRP), will sell for about 47k with 5000 miles on it. In other words, if the supply of new vehicles is still low compared to demand, they will still be getting MSRP or above on average. Therefore you might only then be paying close to MSRP for a used one. It's all relative.
The general consensus is that if you can buy a brand new one for 54, would you really pay much more than 47 for a used one? One model year older, one year less warranty and 5000 miles of unknown abuse, nicks, scratches, curb rash, tire and brake wear etc.? Not to mention, the ability to get the color combinations and options of your choice instead of what's available used. Mark my word, I'm calling it now.
Oh and the comment about C6's being priced where they are, it will be more likely that the C6's will be dropping, not increasing the prices of C7.

There is absolutely no way to know.
This would be the correct answer to the original question.
Its not a ridiculous thread even in the slightest. I was not able to buy these cars during the past releases. So I wanted to gauge the possibility and possible price costs of a 1 year old corvette. Relax.
