Catering to older folk would only be a short term success. Marketing to to a younger crowd and aspiring the teenagers while losing a few older buyers is a more viable long term success.

Yes, younger does not mean 30. The goal for GM on the C7 is to have the average buyer be the same age as the average Porsche/ Super car buyer. (Mid to upper 40's). Average C6 buyer was 56, GM is trying to hit that 40 year old guy who has the money for a 2nd car.

Based on real world people I know the number is larger than 5 to 10 percent by quite a margin. I think we should be glad they are there though because they take some of the heat off of the uglier than sin remainder of the back of the car underneath them.

Meh whatever, I don't have to look at it cause I'll be in the car and t's kind of amusing to think that when you pass someone you are then practically hanging your hairy *** out and mooning them just by letting them see the back of the car. Maybe thats what their true plan was, auto mooning? lol

I like the fact that you don't like the rear end, but you will still buy he C7. One thing you don't like should not overcome the 100 things the C7 does well.

If this was so pointless, why did Tom Peters make a Youtube video on the topic? I've never seen a design team head basically go on TV to try and explain and justify a mistake. And if you watch that video, it is hard to conclude Mr. Peters does not at least begin to appreciate that putting Camaro tail lights on a new Corvette is a major error.
Peters didn't address the topic of this thread, he spoke to a design decision that was made with the expectation that a percentage of corvette fans would not approve. They will say get f'ed before they apologize or offer an oem tail light conversion. That notion is almost as insane as trying to draw similarities between the dynamic design of the c7 lights and the "warning hot cup o soup" lights on the Camaro. Which are round lights in a square bezel.

Toyota headlights? First time I have personally heard of that comparison. Your other points may, MAY be valid, but overall I think you are projecting what YOU would buy.. You are, of course, welcome to your opinions but I don't feel you have convinced many others that your thoughts are valid and I believe most wont agree that boycotting GM will do any good. But kudos for an otherwise well written post.

And for one final point of reference, I am four years older than you.

Imagine if the Corvette still had popup headlights. Wow it would be the only car that had one and would be the joke of the auto industry for it's outdated look.

I was talking with a young Cadillac rep the other day. The corvette
came up and age market. He felt few young people under 45
can justify or afford the car. Said Cadillac is getting some younger
but not like the other brands. Cadillac does offer seating for 4, in all,
with SUV and Wagons. Corvette is not practical outside single,
empty nesters, or the few that happen to be able to afford a toy.

On the taillights, sorta shrugged his shoulder and went well
they could have spent a little more time there. Too busy back
there with vents and angles. Front good.

For the price, a V Caddy would give a taste of both worlds

If your 50, your old.. In the eyes of marketers.

There is only one way the tail lights may become an issue-if this thing does 0-60 in 3 flat and quarter mile in 11 flat, then people would start noticing them. Chances are very good, C7 owners will be complaining about other cars tail lights

Although I think the C7's rear end looks very fugly and does not fit the rest of the awesome design of the C7, this new thread is certainly

IBTL!

Sixty six years old, twenty lifetime Vettes. Glad to see the pop ups gone. OK with the rear of the C7. Also, don't salivate looking at C2s. Love the C3s, though. My GS and the C7 remind me of the C3s. The C7 has a killer look. And, will take the Vette to a higher level.

IMO the tail lights are great. They finally got rid of one of my biggest car related pet peeves - the red turn signal. Thank goodness they have amber ones now (not that people use blinkers anymore anyway).

It's the running mascara vents around the lights that is the problem. I would likely get a C7 in a darker color in order to make the vents less noticeable. Everything else about the car is great IMO.

Interesting, are you suggesting there is a bit of kabuki in C7?
