Found out from my dealer that I am number 5 for a coupe or number 1 for convertible. Decisions are so hard, okay since I have never owned a Vette before, I choose the convertible. Now the wait time, UGH! won't get until end of 2013. I appreciate all the forum comments, learning a lot here, Thanks everyone.

Tell that dealer he can shove his "list". Allocations are the dealers problem, not the buyers. There are no shortages of Corvettes. There will be plenty of C7s to go around. Don't get suckered by all the hype and nonsense about limited production, allocations and all the other BS designed to get suckers to bend over.

Wrong....Allocations are the buyer's problem...No allocation=no car.

Awesome. Not sure what the other comments are being negative about. Since the Vert will only become available near the end of the year is sounds like you'll be one of the early ones. Good luck and post lots of details!
Again, a thread populated with folks who don't get the new Corvette model/allocation story. Likely, they aren't buyers anyway. We are high on a delivery list with a cold weather big allocation dealer. They are long on coupe short on vert buyers given their convertible weather inconvienences. So we too are expecting an early convertible Museum delivery. Good luck with the new ride.

You may actually be the one who doesn't really "get it". There are many of us on this forum who have seen The cyclical nature of these progressive generations along with the all the retailers manipulation of price based on what they consider to limitations on the supply and demand curve.
Joe Blow Chevy may have 2 or 3 "allocations" and dump that issue on a potential buyer as if it is the buyers problem, it is NOT. "Allocations" are the retailers problem and theirs alone. Guys who think that they are on a "list" are often times being played for suckers as the retailer has no obligation what so ever to sell them a car.
The plain and simple here is to find a dealer who doesn't work you over with all the BS about allocations, limited production, and all the other crap they spew all designed to unload a potential buyers wallet to the maximum extent.
There is nothing new here. Same scenario that has played out over and over again. The casualties are the suckers who allow themselves to be had by this aggressive manipulation. Wake up.

Do you know that out of the 4,000 Chevrolet dealers only 800 of them are getting the C7? Most dealers have already sold their first six month allocation.

The final number is closer to 900 than 800 out of the 4,000 Chevy dealers, who will receive any initial C7 allocation for approx 9 months.
Just wanted to give you the most accurate facts. Then again you were responding to drmustang who seems to have no need for facts in this matter, and declares dealer allocation of the initial C7s to be hype, nonsense and BS.

"Most dealers have sold their first six months allocation" LOL! Absolutely idiotic thing to claim. As if you would know how many Corvettes 900 different dealers have presold. Ridiculous nonsense.

It's funny how some people can pull facts out of thin air......
Not to mention if they sell out, they can build more quicker than ever....18 an hour I think? Correct me if im wrong. Bottom line is supply will be greater than demand, bank on it.
I love people who are worried about getting one like it is a 500 max build Lambo or something!

Exactly, GM can fart these out wholesale. They can build far more 60 or 70 thousand dollar, impractical, 2 seat toys than the cash depleted public will ever purchase.

18 or 18.5 was the original line output for the C5 and C6 before the crash. Then GM slowed the line speed down to around 8 an hour and laid off a ton of workers. GM was farting out nearly 38,000 a year on one shift with some overtime. Think if they ran the plant for two shifts. Around 65,000 annually.

Yes, Corvettes can be produced in mass quantities should GM find the need to open the gates.

You too are drinking the kool-aid the dealers want you to drink. Most dealers just want everyone to believe that all their allocations are filled and supply is low. That is there way of getting everyone who wants to order a C7, to pay top dollar.
The more they talk allocations being almost full and supply being low, regardless of whether it is true, the more suckers they get to fall for it, and order a C7 at "only" MSRP.
I take everything a car daler says with a grain of salt.... everything!!!!!
