Cadillac is appealing to the upper class crowd ??. Corvette wants to appeal to the
Porsche crowd but keep the price lower to drawn in the lower class. They need to
make up there mind who they want to play with. The car should have been priced to
be more exclusive. Cadillac ups the price, Corvette keeps the price cheap
I've always thought of Corvettes as a great-looking high performance car, but never as an exotic. The C7 has, to my mind, all the elements of an exotic car: beautiful and efficient lines, high performance, hi-tech lightweight materials, driver-centric focus; it looks like it's going 100mph when it's parked.
Simply put, when I saw the reveal all I could think was, "I gotta have one of those!"
I thought I was pretty excited about getting one as I put together my options list and especially when I gave my order to my dealer.
But then, I decided to attend my first local Corvette Club monthly meeting the other night and now I know what excitement really is! I found a great group of people who seemed as excited about my C7 as I am! They oohed and ahhed over my build specs, asked all kinds of questions, made suggestions and were really supportive. I was amazed at the wealth of knowledge and the offers of help (not to mention the requests for a ride once I get it). Even though I don't have my 'Vette yet and can't become a member until it arrives, they treated me like one of their own and even roped me into helping out with their upcoming annual car show. I left the meeting feeling great about my decision to buy a 'Vette and even more fired up about my new Stingray than I was when I walked in the door.
I strongly suggest that all of you new prospective owners find your local Corvette Club and attend a meeting. If your experience is anywhere near as positive as mine (and I expect it will be), you'll be glad you did. Just like this forum, you'll find a wealth of information and meet some terrific people who love Corvettes as much as you do.

Very cool thread. I've been a "Corvette guy" all my life, my Dad has owned several and currently has the 72 LT1 in my avatar. Been to Bloomington, Carlisle, etc multiple time. I've always wanted one but never lived anywhere where it was practical to have one as a daily driver. Have owned Camaros (totaled it driving in the winter) Saab 9-5 Aero, Pontiac G8 GT and currently a 2012 CTS-V.
Now that I can afford a 3rd car, I only have a 2 car garage and refuse to park my V outside. I love the C7 and plan on owning one - I'm thinking the C7 Z06 will be available right about when I move into a new house with a bigger garage. From that point forward I hope to be a Corvette owner for the rest of my life. Would love to do something cool like bring my Dad to a Museum Delivery for my C7.
Several members have committed that they enjoyed this thread, I know I have. The stories were great and a diverse nature. Maybe a thread where all can chime in with tails ofvtheir first Corvette. So, I'll give it a try.
My story is pretty similar. I started looking last summer to buy a new car. I haven't owned a car for 11 years (been driving a company van). I narrowed it down to the Audi TT, BMW Z4, Corvette GS coupe and Porshe Cayman. The Audi drove nice but its looks reminded me too much of a VW bug so it was out. The BMW didn't do anything for me at all and I thought it was way over-priced. I really enjoyed the Cayman. It handled well and had more than enough horsepower but the interior was rather dated. I was pretty set on the Vette when I heard a new model was coming out. Decided to wait and see what it looked like and was quite impressed. I'm still waiting to test drive it before I make my final decision but since I've waited this long waiting a little longer is no big deal to me. I'm patient.
