I will be happy too. Do you have there number?

I know what they are for but I would really like to know how it works. Its still beyond me how the "fork" likeness of the bumper would kick up instead of drag under. Maybe if someone was hit off center, then I could see how it might knock you to the side, but head on like that guy in the video, I don't see how it would do a think.

Did anyone follow that news on that video? Did both people die? Did you know why they were stopped in the middle of a 4 lane hw?

Stingray, if you need the number, a call to the museum would be a good place to start. Or, p/m Talon90. Better yet, next year, go to the bash in BG. They have a number of tech sessions with folks from the engineering dept that will be more than happy to answer your question. Most likely in greater detail than most would need to hear.

All wrong. It is designed to look like the front of an actual Stingray. Look at the front of the fish around the mouth. It has the same design. It is a style design not a safety design.

Look up European Pedestrian safety standards NCAP 2.0.

The idea is to have the lowest part of the front fascia as the furthest forward point in an effort to have the impact on a pedestrian below the knee. This contributes to the knee/leg collapsing along it's axis of travel rather than a raised bumper hitting first and shattering a knee or breaking a leg.

The design options are essentially up to the manufacturer and there are aero benefits to having that feature low and out front as well if it is incorporated in to the overall aero signature of the car.

It isn't coincedence that you are seeing these types of "fangs" appearing on other manufacturers fascias at the same time.

Obvious questions. What about the pedestrians that get hit at the center of the car? Show me the aero benefits?

The whole idea just seems silly.
Engineering the front of cars to "safely" hit people.

If a "non fanged" car and a "fanged" car both hit someone at the same angle and same speed, are the fangs really going to make any difference?

It seems to me getting hit head on by any car would really suck.

They appear to be parking sensors just like on my Lexus or many other cars out there. I never had or needed them before now, but they do work. If we had them as an option, I'd opt for them personally though I know some wouldn't.

The photo must be a European model or concept, maybe future option. I noticed the rocker panels are different as well. So are the headlights. There appears to be a fog light VS LED's.

A little weird looking in my opinion.

If I get my legs broken, I want proper boobie bumpers to do the job.

These anti 'Jay' walking devises were very effective.

Europe cars have different wing mirrors with signal repeaters and head light washers. So there is already EU options. GM then could have easily had a EU bumper with fangs.

couldn't help but get a chuckle out of that. But seriously, yeah the "fangs" are there because they have to be for some reason whose other "solution" scenarios would surely be worse.

The fangs will ensure the person hit lands safely on their feet!
