Default Bicycles?

I'm also concerned about this issue, as our C6 is the perfect roadtrip vehicle. On occasion, I've filled the trunk with two bikes, camping equipment, and duffels with enough gear and clothes for two weeks on the road. I suppose that I'll make the C7 trunk space work even if it requires putting a quick release on the seat post. Anyway, it's the only aspect of the C7 that I find disappointing.

just to be funny, maybe it's "truth in advertising." but more seriously, maybe it is WITH the top stowed. and the others were without the top stowed. that's about the only thing I can think of since it didn't look radically smaller than the C6 to me.

Yeah that would make sense.

I don't think the luggage space is significantly smaller. The width seems to be the same. The height and length might be slightly less. I think I can fit the same amount - it might be a little tighter.

Here's my loaded C6:

Here's the C7:

The reduced space has been a concern for me for some time now - seemed pretty clear that the rear window being flat would reduce the available space. Was thinking about selling the DD (Sonic hatchback - tons of room) keeping the ZR1 (queen) and using the C7 as the DD. Based upon the numbers, now I don't know.

I think that plane will be fine in the C7. I can get a 70" span Great Planes Revolver in my C6. Passenger seat must be moved forward and the wings detach in 2 halves but it fits. I am concerned about this plane in the C7 but I think I can make it work.

Happy flying!

Shoot! I was hoping to get my aircraft in the cargo space of my C7.

Oh well, that's what they make minivans for.

One of the great things about the C6's was ability to fit a good deal of stuff in the hatch. This past weekend for a beach trip had to leave the MX-5 at home due to a beach chair and umbrella....would've easily fit in the C6 hatch.....got me thinking the C7 will have more useable space and be a non-issue when I decide to buy

I think the reduction in space is that glass area and near the edge where it meets the roof area....I'm optimistic the useable space won't be effected much (along the floor-edges of the hatch).

Agree, I think the floor space (sq ft) will surprisingly much closer to C6 than the cubic foot displacement implies.

I have driven the C7 and the interior is tighter and seems smaller. The rear window is much smaller and the rear view camera is a necessity when using reverse. The hatch area looks smaller due the rear pillars and flatter glass compressing space. Look at the wrap around glass on the C6 that was sacrificed for the wider fenders and cooling vents on the C7. Leave the wife at home and you will have 76% less luggage, have the front seat available for your stuff and you can drive how you want with no critical comments!!

That makes more sense than anything, or perhaps a related idea- they are only measuring up to the top of the trunk sides, and are not counting any space above that.

The standards for measuring MPG have changed many times over the years, the same thing might be happening with trunk capacity numbers. Either by some official standard, or GM just trying to be more realistic.

With the roof stowed, there appears to be some additional storage capacity just behind the seats. Looks to be about a foot square and the full width of the seat backs. I haven't seen one in person yet, but can anyone who has provide an estimated size of that space?

The big loss in specified trunk space is more due to the reduced availability in the hatch glass area rather then the trunk area itself. As long as your needs in your C5 or C6 trunk did not enter too much into the area above the fenders, the space may still be adequate for you. Like you said, we will all find out better when we look at the C7's at Carlisle..

Re: C7 roof storage in trunk: With the roof stored in the trunk how much space is available under the roof and can items or soft sided luggage be placed on top of the roof within the trunk. Would it damage the roof?

my understanding is that one of the engineers said, there was a change in measurement methodology. The actual amount stuff that will fit has not changed as much as the drop in measurement implies(by a third).

I agree that 15 C/F does not tell me much

I have a dog carrier / cage that is 2 foot high by 2 foot wide by 3 feet long. I could shop for a smaller crate but I can't go much smaller because 2 dogs in a small space on a long trip won't work well. I do let my dogs ride on the passenger seat but there are times when I need them confined to prevent them from getting in trouble.

This is a picture of a loaded C7 leaving Laguna Seca at the end of the 3 day race - it's not much smaller in floor space. As I recall GM said the measurments were made differently. Apparently they are no longer measuring the number of ping pong ***** it can hold!

I'm coming from a 350Z and a whopping 6.8 cubic feet of trunk space - I think I'll be OK lol
