I too am struck by the difference in the numbers. The C7 coupe's trunk does not in any way appear to be 33% smaller (which GM's numbers indicate). Having not just seen many pictures, but actually stood next to the C7 and spent a few minutes looking into the "cargo" area, it does not appear that it is more than, say10% smaller than the cargo area in my C6 coupe. GM says C7 will hold the same two golf clubs and is only slightly smaller than the C6's.

Perplexed....
Yeah . I saw the trunk yesterday and it didn't seem to small.
Since we use our Corvette mostly as a long-distance road tripper for two people, reduction in trunk capacity is serious.
Going from an "official" (depending on which official source you use) 25 CF in the C5 to 22 CF in the C6, was annoying but we worked with it. Going down to 15 CF might be a deal-breaker for us.
Does anyone know if those numbers for the C5 and C6 include the cubbies under the trunk?
I am handicapped and use a scooter. I have no problem getting it into my C5 & C6 but with that reduction in space it looks like a C7 is not in the cards for me. Too bad. I will check them out in Carlisle and get a better idea.
One thing I know for sure; it will hold all five pieces of my Corvette (Thule) luggage and I'm not trying to be snarky or sarcastic. I will order that luggage if I can get a set in black.

At the risk of being totally incinerated by the usual suspects, I was rather interested in your entry. I did not realize that Thule was making the luggage for the Corvette. I googled it and that is in fact the case. This is not "cheap, run-of-the-mill" luggage. Thule makes fine, high quality products and I have a few of their products already, including a truly top notch computer bag/briefcase. I plan to take long road trips in this car with my wife to points all over the US. If this luggage fits in the car and makes the best and most efficient use of the space, I'll be first on the list to buy it. Thank you for the info.
My GTO trunk was 7 cu ft. due to the movement of the gas tank into the front of the trunk area. Pitiful. 15 cu. ft. Sounds big to me. My Hyundai holds 65 cu. ft., so if I need to haul big stuff, the Stingray will get the day off.
Well, my Cadillac CTS sedan only has 13.6 cubic feet of trunk space and the only "luggage" that ever goes in the back seat is a small cooler. I have never had any luggage issues on longer road trips with it and I take a lot because given poor quality airline service there has to be a big body of water between me and my destination before I put up with the hassle of air travel. It does require a little care in packing but the only time I really notice is after taking a trip in my 2500HD Sierra crew cab which has 60 cubic feet of "trunk space" under the bed cover and a huge rear seating area that folds down into probably another 30 cubic feet of space and with 2,200 pounds of payload capacity this leads to bringing more than necessary.

Hoping the C7 numbers are not what they seem...
In addition to the road trip issue, we sometimes use our C6 to haul items that won't fit in the "normal" cars.
Purists are horrified, I just pad everything properly and keep on truckin'
Not a single scratch. blemish, or dent in our trunk/deck area.
My Harley has 2.2 cu ft. total and its enough for the wife and I for 2 weeks. On the other hand when we go to Florida with our mini van it's full So its the way you pack we always pack with the top down.
My best guess is that the new liftback design can "hold" less air. The C6 does not have the vents on the rear shoulders, the C7 does. Therefore the glass piece is narrower netting less storage room.
