GM got away from Mobile 1 as the factory fill in 2010 as I recall. GM now requires a synthetic oil that meets their dexos1 oil specification. Mobile 1 is currently formulated to meet the dexos 1. This specification supersedes the 4618M spec that was previously called out in the owners manual. It is a stricter series of requirements for the performance of the oil.

Mobile 1 will still be my oil of choice.

 

GM does not require a full synthetic oil(like Mobil1) in order to meet it's dexos specs. In fact the dexos oil that is supplied to GM by Exxon-Mobil is a synthetic blend, as are many of the oils that meet the dexos standard. Of course, full synthetic oils will meet the dexos spec, but synthetic oils are not required in order for an oil to meet the dexos spec.

I asked my dealer this question last week. He said 2 changes a year for 2 years. I asked if I'd like it changed at 3K would that be covered and he said it would. Z51? He said yes.

I am not sure BUT I think it even is referenced on the window sticker....... I've read so much pushed so many buttons in the last week its all a blur,.

 

Yeah, the carefully chosen language is non-committal.

 

With just under 700 miles, my monitor is already down to 91%. What are other mileages showing?

 

With 1123 miles I'm at 85%

 

My dealer said he would provide the 4 free oil changes for my Z51 in the first 2 years however the oil life monitor has to be less than 20%. I'm also at 1100 miles and about 85%.

 

It's the first item on you window sticker. Not sure how you can misinterpret it?

 

Your current numbers are in line with my experience with my 06, and 10 C6s. It works out to approx. 7500 to 8000 between changes.

You guys must drive in a similar fashion to my style.

Wow. 101 cars in one lifetime. It doesn't seem like you would ever even have to do maintenance on cars since you must replace them every 6 months or so (unless you are building a huge stockpile of cars). That said, I definitely respect people who do work on their own cars.
