The back of the C7 now looks like a Capri hatch back I used to have.
I could actually get a piece of 7x8 drywall into it.
Can I get a piece of 7x8 drywall into a C7
I like the looks of a C7, but with the hatch opened I never like the looks of the Capri or the C7
That view of the C7 with the hatch opened just does not make the C7 look like a sports car particularily for the $ involved. Makes the passengers and the back of the seats look too exposed. Makes it look like a cheap ricer. Modulator: do not allow this picture any more.

And, add some roof racks so you can carry ladders.
Where does one get 7x8 drywall? Most standard sheets are 4x8 and sometimes 4x10 or 4x12. I have never seen in a 7 foot width.
Your Capri must have been wider than I remember them.
opps, typo 4x8
Above Capri is some random Kijjijji pix, The only thing good about the Capri was it had a 4 spd stick. Rest of it was junk. Weight ratio F/R was 99%/01%. Could barely get up an iced road crown with rear wheel drive.
I wouldn't refuse to buy a C7 because of this, but we did carry a 4x8 sheet of plywood in our C5 and later C6. That was convenient because we don't own a van or pickup and don't want to.
OP - that's what your truck, or your Capri is for.
I like everything about the C7, front and back, except the look of the open hatch. That's one reason why my 15 or 16 (depending on how long the list of recalls will be) will be a convert.
The Capri has been melted into a Mazda long ago. I've graduate to a Trailblazer for the heavy reno lifting, my home built car carrier trailer(my first welding project) or home delivery.
I think people are misinterpreting this picture. First, on the right side of the flap you can see the rest of the cover has been folded in front of the flap. Normally this is attached to the hatch, and when open, the seats are not visible - like this:
It looks like the tie-down hooks are being used to secure the bottom of the flap. A lot of people were annoyed with this thing flapping around. The tie-down hooks fold flush with the floor when not in use.
