Awaiting a new CG addition to our family next month. Wondering if you have any recommendations of insurance companies that do good job of catering to our low-usage, 9-month per year used cars?
I insure both my 1973 and 2008 with National Corvette Museum Insurance Agency. Ask for Adam Boca. Better coverage with more flexibility and a lower cost than USAA. By the way I have been with USAA for over 40 years and they cover our two Jaguars. USAA is a great company, but not really set up to handle antique or special interest cars. Congrats on the new Vette.
Find an Erie Insurance agent in your area! They do write in your state.
I'll second this......... and add........ with the winter layup you do not need to call them to add or delete insurance. And if it is a nice day you can drive it and be covered. They figure in your premium the car is not driven in bad weather.
Second if you bundle and pay an annual premium you get a nice discount.
Third they are very competitive in their rates......never heard of any claim issues.

Thanks for the plug!
OP and others: We offer Collector Car Coverage (yes even a new Corvette) with an Agreed Value. We have mileage options....
We don't insure everyone, so if you use you car for Car Shows, Club Events, Parades and the Occasional Pleasure Use we can talk for sure. We also have the 9-5 Endorsement that allows folks to drive their Corvette to work up to 2 times per week.
What we do not insure (flame suit on), are vehicles used for daily use transportation, errands, grocery store, shopping malls, etc.
If you feel like you qualify we are offering some amazing rates. Give us a call at 877.678.7626 or check us out online at www.ncminsurance.com.

If your retired, the only place you go is errands, grocery store, shopping malls, Does that mean you don't insure retired Corvette owners that probably take their cars out only between 10am to 3 pm and maybe the odd evening?

We insure many retired folks, but dont insure them if the Corvette is their primary car. We require a daily use vehicle used for daily use activities.

Just so I understand this. Most retired people will have a primary vehicle which they would probably use for grocery shopping because the Corvette isn't all that condusive for carrying a wks supply. But it seems that for checking out odd items at a shopping mall or flea markets etc would be precluded by your insurance.
So. that leaves going out to check out a park, or some country fair or some odd thing like that. Which means that the Corvette would only get used once every few wks.
Do you have more clear written guides as to what "daily use" actually means.

You are correct, check out our website at www.ncminsurance.com and you will find additional information.
Again, not everyone qualifies for our program. When I had my C5 I drove it everywhere. I couldn't insure my C5, but I could insure my 1969 Corvette. Regardless of being retired or not, it really doesn't matter. We only insure vehicles used in the situations I pointed out. Car shows, club events, parades and the occasional pleasure use.
Meeting a bunch of car guys for breakfast, lunch or dinner is fine...going to dinner with your wife is fine....
I switched to AMICA 2-1/2 years ago when I bought my ZR1 and never looked back. I was with Allstate for decades with a clean record and previous Z06s when THE GOOD HANDS PEOPLE tried to rip with 2x premiums for the new ZR1. My long time Allstate agent was honest and said that Allstate is really only interested in insuring Middle America and not any high-end cars. Adios!!
My Allstate agent told me that I made a wise choice in selecting AMICA due #1 JD Power surveys.
I use Mercury through AIS. They have been the cheapest insurance I have ever had and I have compared several times over the years since switching to them.
About 15 years ago, I was with AAA and had every discount they offer from, good driver, multiple car to family discounts. I got a DUI (dumb move) and my rates went through the roof. I contacted AIS to see what they would charge and was shocked to find out that I could get better coverage with higher limits and lower deductibles with my DUI for less than AAA was charging with all my discounts prior to my DUI.
As I said, I check every so often for alternate carrier rates and Mercury via AIS has always been the least expensive with the best coverage.
