Frankly, I'm bored with all this C7 talk. I heard the C8 is going to have AWD/DCT/DOHC/AFM/VVT/CIA/NCAA/NAACP/FBI/DOT/and a whole pack of other acronyms. Tom Hill told me. Or was it Dave?

Jimmy

PS. I hope someone will show Tom this thread tomorrow (I am sure he's asleep at this moment), he would surely get a good laugh.

^ You see - the C8 controversy begins already . . .was it Tom or Dave who spilled the beans . . . . .

PS: Did he give you a C8 production date that we can agonize about?

Much better than letting cars out that aren't properly sorted, incur the wrath of customers and magazines, and then spend years repairing the rep of the car.

I'd rather not see the C7 in the position the Viper is in now.
whats going on with the viper?

That's why some will wait for subsequent "runs." There's a lot going on with this car that will not get sorted out until "real" folks begin driving it in the "real" world.

Hoover DAM..... I just read that for the first time and the Viper provided for the test would not have passed Yugo quality control if it was built the day after the weekly vodka festival.

True, Jim. But every opening I've ever been to of a far less (well, maybe not that much less) store, building, factory, warehouse, etc. is always fraught with last minute glitches that everyone wishes they had 24 hours or 24 more days to get it right.

4. Epic Fail by GM on letting US know the release period
5. Sadly for all the folks that are enjoying whining, the release period was revealed 8 MONTHS AGO
6. Somehow, the President (of the U.S.) is responsible for the "delay" that is not a "delay". I guess Democrats hate Corvettes.

Remember the huge differences in all the makers' vehicles in the 50's and 60's? The workers took a 3 week 'change-over' and then it was business as usual--come on down and pick up your new cars folks.

Bill, I certainly understand that. But this one truly is dragging on a long time. I was in the position of waiting for mine to be built when the C6 was introduced and it was nowhere near as drawn out or as secretive as this is.

We have to have something to complain about - the Camaro tail light issue doesn't even move the needle anymore

When Tom Hills says no customer cars till September, does he mean the build date or delivery date? If someone at Carlise could ask some questions at one of the seminars.

Has customer car production started? Yes or No

Will first customer deliveries be in late Sept early October? Yes or No

Could 1st and 2nd consensus cars be delivered at the same time due to the quality hold? Yes or no

Glad GM is doing it the right way and making sure we don't have any Mosquitos!

Add these questions.

How many cars in the 1st and 2nd consensus?

What is rate of production now? 20 a day or 5 per hour?

When running at full speed what is hourly production?

I believe I saw someone (like Mike Furman?) say something about 18 an hour at full bore but I don't remember for sure. He was also saying they were looking at a sales goal of 35k the first year!

For those that don't know this discussion is about the C7, not the C5 or C6. And it is Tom Hill, Quality Engineering Manager. He's the man on the hot seat at the moment.

It's going to get to the point that these guys aren't going to say anything to anyone because when they do, it's all over the internet getting dissected and twisted...

I think everyone knows what the thread is about. Some of us are trying to bring some levity to a thread that went off track 2 pages ago because reading/comprehension skills are often lacking on CF. If Tom Hill is on any "hot seat", it is getting the car right, not what is twisted around on CF.

Per John Kingsley, Program Validation Engineer, they are building customer cars now. Expected delivery late September. Showed Tom Hill how his thread was going and he said "That's hot". There you have it.

I was trying to bring some levity as well. Also we may have some looking in who aren't familiar with the Corvette team.

Now people will be harping on about John Kingsley instead of Tom Hill!
