Interesting the consensus seems to be the C7 over a C6Z. I'm biased with a 2008 Z06, but I would not even consider a C7 to replace it. Real world pricing, similarly equipped, will probably be over $20K to switch and there is no doubt in my mind the Z06 will outperform the C7. Styling and creature comforts are not important enough to me. Now if you are considering the Z06 more for subjectives like prestige and "valet appeal," then the C7 is the better choice.
I am interested to see what the performance variants of the C7 are, though and hope we get a glimps at the Detroit Auto Show in January. I am confident it will be amazing and more livable to boot.

If I already had a Z06 I wouldn't trade it for a C7 until the release of the high performance version. That's different than buying one or the other.
For what it is worth, I have owned the C4 LT1, C5 Coupe, C5 Z06, C6 Coupe, and C6 Z06. I will never buy another "base model" (Stingray) ever again. After experiencing the Hi-Po models for the last two gens, I can tell you from experience that there is a NIGHT AND DAY difference in PERFORMANCE. Not only that, but the recognition, resale value, and quick easy sale of your Hi-Po model if you ever go that route. I am waiting for the C7 "Z06". If you want to do it right, do it right the first time. Just my .02 cents.
*Not to mention you'd have to void your warranty on the Stingray just to get a fraction of the performance that I am sure the new Hi-Po model will provide*
people here are funny everybody talk crap about a car they never even saw in person, but they all know it will be the best car there is, issues free with nothing more to be asked for!!!
Yeah right a C7Z51 loaded push the 70 larges!! so you are saying a slightly faster car for half price ins't worth it!! I bought my ZR1 for half price of a new with 4000 miles on it thats a value!!
Op asked a question they way he's expecting aprroving only his mind was clearly set!!
with that being said, ill wait for a real version of the C7!!

Your kind of all over the place there but your final sentence is rather negative, don't you think? You've read and seen all the reviews, right?

Thats all good and fair if you have disposable money. Also fair if there was a c7 z06 available now, but there isnt. So for those of us that want to get into a brand new c7 corvette, this car will keep me very happy until a z or zr come out.

Actually i did! we'll see what future hold! Its still a corvette! if you get my point now! Im waiting to see Z07 because i saw the C7 in person and rear just kill and otherwise really nice design.
Ok guys settle down now , yes the c7 is a really nice car but really you guys really think it can take a zo6 ????? I for one seriously doubt that . Lets compare apples to apples guys , when the c7Z comes out then yeah . The c7 is a a normal corvette , a zo6 is a street legal race car .

Unequivocally true. The car world was pleasantly shocked when the C6 Z06 first came out. Corvette people already knew the C5Z was special but I think the C6Z got even more recognition.

But this statement is a bit contradicting? "That's all good and fair if you have disposable money"......
Let me get this straight, you are going to get a C7 at MSRP and then trade in a depreciated vehicle on top of that for a C7 "Z" or "ZR"? Why not wait? It has nothing to do with disposable income, you could easily save up the difference in money for the next two years, drop that down onto the 2nd year Hi-Po model for invoice instead of paying now for a first year model at MSRP. Of course, I am just reponding to your statement about "disposable income". This is my plan, which in the long run I believe I will save A LOT more money than buying a C7 now. Also, there should be specials - 72 months financing @ 0% interest during that time, along with dropping around $20K down, I think that is the smartest way to buy a depreciating vehicle to minimize your losses and monthly payments.

Maybe so if you allready have a corvette, I dont, and am buying new

More like stunned...People, especially the P-Car crowd here in SoCal, couldn't believe the C6Z weighed the same as the C5Z but had 100 more HP.

What is out perform? Out accelerate, yes. Everything else performance wise(braking, turning, skidpad grip, handling dynamics, steering, etc) the '14 Z51 is most likely better than the '08 Z06.

"Most likely"......most likely yes. A 2008 Z06 came standard with the worst tires you could put on a corvette. With that said, the C6Z is a set of tires away if you really want to stretch the performance difference.
I know we are comparing stock for stock; however, we are talking about a car that is 5 years old, so it deserves a real set of tires.

I don't have one at the moment. Driving around my gas saving Honda
You must have the Corvette fever / bug, I know what you're going through right now. I've been there, done that. I am holding off the bug this time until the Hi-Po model. Either way, I am sure you will be happy with the Stingray, car looks awesome
