Street legal race car seems a bit far. C6 Z06 is a killer street car.....barely legal race car for the street, not so much. Extremely overused marketing puffery that is here to stay no matter the car with their comfy, leather interiors, sound systems, and sat navs.....

Though an LS7 Vette with the ZR1 X-pipe gives off the sound for a very convincing argument otherwise.

I know we are comparing stock for stock; however, we are talking about a car that is 5 years old, so it deserves a real set of tires.

Like a popcorn fart in the Kalahari Desert. I like it.

Some of us would rather put another 20k or so into driving the new model rather than into heads and interior on the eight year old model. If the hipo model with a cool new color beckons in a few years so be it. Fun fun fun all over again.

After reading your post, it is obvious to me that you already made up your mind...

I'll add that the C7 may be a better all-around car and the more popular purchase right now, but in a year from now, it will be just another base vette. To me, the C6Z will be the more popular car to own down the road. This is assuming you keep your cars a long time. Similarly, I'd own C5Z before buying a base C6. The higher performance model, at least to me, is always more special, especially as both cars get old.

Thanks for the compliment, but unfortunately (for me) I don't agree.
I think in 5 years it will be just another "ZR-1"

remember when this was fetching $100K????http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Corvette-ZR-1-Hatchback-2-Door-1993-chevrolet-corvette-zr-1-hatchback-2-door-5-7-l-/171119627687?forcerrptr=true&hash=item27d7864da7&item=171119627687&pt=US_Cars_Trucks

"Just another ZR1" is an oxymoron. Your car won't follow the path of the C4 ZR1.

Where do you track your Z06?
I've tracked one of my cars at a number of tracks in the south and am considering getting the C7 out to a few courses in the northeast before I take it down to Florida, so I am curious where some of the Z06 guys go.

What the hell is that? ZR1's didn't come out until 1990, even when in research the car didnt have 1984-1985 rims?
The research car also could not close the hood all the way.

Perhaps you two don't know anything about daily driver cars, or perhaps your ears have too much wax in them.

You don't have to own a C7 Z51 to know it's a better daily driver than a C6 Z06.

Here's what makes the C7 Z51 a better daily driver based SOLELY on reviews and obvious facts:
  • It gets better economy.
  • It has better (more comfortable) seats.
  • It has a nicer interior with materials that feel better to the touch.
  • It has more creature comforts.
  • It has better suspension for daily driving (and possibly more mechanical grip).
  • It has noise canceling to make the cabin more quiet.
  • It has a superior sound system with far more features and better voice recognition.
  • It has a rear-view camera.
  • It has a stiffer more solid chassis.

Here's the list of things that make the C6 Z06 a better daily driver:
  • There's better rear visibility (less blind spots).

If you believe the C6 Z06 makes a better daily driver than the C7 Z51, you're very obviously in denial.

Forgot what a daily driver means, did you?

"Faster" is what would make the C6Z a better "track" car.

But thanks for playing.

Nope. I have owned both the Coupes and Z06's for the last two Gens. The Z was always the better and MORE FUN as a daily, and so will the upcoming Hi-Po model.
I'd gladly take the C6Z over the C7 Stingray any day. Then again, what you and I are arguing is all personal preference.

I hate to burst anyone's bubble but the performance difference of these two cars will be overcome by driving skill in almost all cases. So the argument is a mute point unless you can extract your car's full potential. (Drag racer's notwithstanding).

Someone here said that at the HPDE they went to they reached a point where they were doing hot laps in all varieties of C6 and the instructors were running circles around them in Camaro SS
