I was just thinking of this yesterday. Actually IF GM i.e. the general looks at these boards GMer gave them a great idea. I mean the Chevy chat is worthless. A simple query and a posting link to the forum........ man folks would eat that up.

More then happy to compliment GMers help with some type of compensation......I'm in.

That's a good idea...also considering how much extra OT he put in 24x7 a combined gift certificate for a weekend away and / or dinner?

Default I am in

I am thinking GM'er really needs a vacation. I am willing to offer him a whole week vacation in my Vacation Club, similar to a timeshare, with locations primarily in the Caribbean, Florida, and Spain. The only other money needed would be travel funds for him and a guest, and the daily meal money the club charges.

The bottom line, I can take care of 7-day accommodations. Ya'll can put funds towards the meals and/or travel. If everyone is in agreement, let's elect a couple people to create our committee and proceed.

Is it just you and I? That's fine. But you'd think with the number of people he has gone above and beyond to help, at the end of the day only two of us would step up to the plate is pretty embarrassing.

Hey, I'm in the game, tell me how much and where to send the money. Does GMer have a pay pal account. I suggest we send him contributions via Paypal!

The deal I have is with Occidental Vacation Club (Royal Club Level). If GM'er likes, he can log on their website, and decide which resort he wants. I can take care of the room - accommodation for two, and my job is done. The only other cost is the meals / these resorts are all-inclusive places, and airfare. Ya'll figure out how to raise/collect the funds the meals. Let's make it happen.

I like the paypal solution, we just need his paypal Id and each can send what they want. He can spend the money any way he wishes.

Submitting funds to his Pay Pal is not too far fetched. During the roll out of the 5th Gen Camaro the anticipation and anxiety of people wanting updates on their Camaro orders was every bit as frantic as it has been around here.

A Camaro forum member with internal GM access was taking requests to check the status of your order. He gave his PayPal account in case you wanted to "donate" something for his efforts. I would guess that guy did pretty well. I know I threw a few bucks onto his cup.

Now, do the math and imagine if GMer had collected a $1-$5 for every time he checked an order number.

Having said that, I doubt if GMer would agree to any part of this. My wife is an attorney specializing in employment law. She says any employee that profits personally from "selling" internal company information would certainly be putting their employment in jeopardy.

So far I only got PMs from kstine98 and Snorman. To everyone else interested - send me PM with your email address so we can proceed.

We are considering collecting $50 to $100 (or more) per person to pay for airfare and meals for two to Cancun. The resort we have chosen is X-Caret Occidental Riviera Maya, Mexico. The resort accommodations have already been taken care of from my Timeshare contract.

Thanks in advance

Yeah - we just need to confirm that accepting a non-monetary gift is acceptable by his company. That's why I offered him the vacation package. Technically speaking, others can basically collect money among each other to take care of the meals, and others give the airfare as a gift, etc....

I have to say I am a little disappointed. GMer has assisted over 250 people who are spending over $60k on a car, some of whom probably had no problem paying over sticker. He has checked our cars status more than once daily, since June, put up with a lot from all of us (good and bad), even while relocating, and we can only find a handful of folks generous enough to step up to the plate? Wow!!!!

Default Here is a thought

I just thought of an idea:

You don't have to dig into your pockets an pull out the cash. I am sure most if not all of us have credit cards with reward points. Why not cash out some of these points into gift cards? We can designate someone who hopefully knows GMer in person, and have that person deliver the gifts to his wife or significant other, for putting up with his late nights and early mornings, ignoring her . That should legally get us off the hook with the employer, as the gift is not to the man himself.

Also, if anyone has access to transferable flyer miles, and willing to contribute, it would help tremendously with the flight to Cancun.

C'mon, here is what we have so far. I am, solo, putting up an entire week for two at the resort. There are four other CF members who offered to contribute funds. But we still need help.

Let's get it rolling. I really would like to wrap this up by this weekend. We all have businesses to run.
