Another Question About Weight
Even racers who spend a lot of time on the track are not as obsessed by weight as a bunch of individuals on this site. I'm almost ashamed that I contributed anything to another worthless post about weight.
...
It's not rocket science to understand why a car that is weighed, weighs different from a manufacturer' stated curb weight. It does not mean that the manufacturer is a liar, or the magazine, with their stated weights.

They even frequently refer to their "scales" and weighing test cars in road test reviews...

So does Edmunds, Car and Driver and I would presume many or most of the other rags.
My understanding is that GM's curb weight is "the weight of the vehicle without driver, passengers or cargo but including maximum capacities of fuel, oil, coolant and other items of standard equipment".
The 3298# is an official GM number for a non-Z51 car, which is likely a base 1LT car with no/few options...i.e. "standard equipment". The 3444# is a number that was published in rags (Automobile published 3404#, another rag-which I'd have to find-published 3386#) that tested a 3LT (we know this based on the pictures of the interior) Z51.
And I fully understand the effect that options have on a vehicle's weight, and seldom refer to the door tag as the true weight for the vehicle. Typically, I'll weigh my cars at the dragstrip to determine race weight.
I'm skeptical that the Z51 package is 146#. The biggest component of weight is the dry sump, which is likely ~35#. Small aluminum radiators and plastic cooling fans and shrouds don't weigh much...maybe ~5-7# each (ever heft a thermostatically controlled B&M Supercooler?), larger diameter wheels and the associated weight is somewhat offset by less rubber in the tire due to a shorter sidewall, the eLSD and pump may add 10-15# and the slightly larger rotors are probably a couple of pounds. I'm guessing the Z51 package adds 75-80#. I do wonder what the component weight of the MSRC is, as these rag-tested cars all had it.

Looks as if GM has raised the max cargo(load) from 423 pounds(on the C6) to 525 pounds on the C7. I wonder if that's because younger people weigh more?

The Gross weight on the door is what that particular car weighs including the maximum cargo weight. each car's gross weight is different unless you are comparing two identical equipped cars.
I checked with another forum member several years back that had a 2009 Z06 with 2LZ and NAV and chromes. Their car's gross weight was one(1) pound different then my gross weight. I don't know why there was a one pound difference between out two seemingly identical cars, but there was, and GM knew it.
It's not practical for GM to list the exact curb weight of every individual car they build on their website. They can't post on their web site that Joe's Z06 has a curb weight o 3228 pounds but Mary's Z06 has a curb weight of 3227 pounds.
But they can post it on the sticker(that is required by federal law) on the driver's door.

It also looks like whatever car/equipment is shown from BillJacobs, it has a curb weight of 3,467 lbs. (3992-525).

Lots of C7's at Burger King!

Using the GVWR on the door tag is not accurate.

Anther new C7, at another dealer, with Z51 A6 and 3LT shows a curb weight of 3455 pounds.
A third one is 3466 pounds.
Just goes to show you that GM knows the curb weight of each individual car they build.
Weights of cars now showing up show at the dealers show that the 3444 pound weight for the Z51 is pretty accurate, not some magazine's guess. Of course, each car will be slightly different, but GM can't post each and every car's actual curb weight on it's website.

You realize that in order for GM to post actual curb weights (calculated from GVWR sticker), they'd have several hundred different option, model and transmission combos to put on the GVWR stickers. I have a picture of a door tag for a non-Z51 2LT 7-speed car showing 3900#. It doesn't seem to support your case very well when a 3LT automatic Z51 car only weighs 91# more. The automatic alone should weigh that much more than the 7-speed.
And once again, using your logic, my 3843# GT500 (on a calibrated track scale) actually weighs 4036#.
