I bet that car won't have a CARFAX on it even though it's been damaged. The dealer should have to report that damage to the prospective buyer by law.
Manufactures fix damage cars outside the assembly line all the time especially at the port (Euro cars). I heard a ship shifted at sea and many cars had damage. They all went through the ports body shop and new owners never knew the car was damaged. My friend owns a very large BMW dealer they get damage cars from transports all the time. They fix them and don't have to record or report it unless it hits a certain $$ amount. Not sure if that is a Texas law or his rule I know other dealer use the same practice. I been told from non dealer owners the amount is 500 and below that dont have to be reported. If you own the dealer, the appraiser and the body shop, I wonder if that amount could be falsely reported???. So people buy cars brand new on dealer lots all the time without knowing they had body work completed. Eat the sausage but you defiantly don't want to know how its made. I use a paint meter on all the cars I buy..

Generally has to be reported if it's over 5% of the MSRP .... the law in most states
Let the dealer fix it if you really want the car. You'll have it in about a week, I'd say...
Why do some of you guys want people to take this garbage gm
is putting out. gm's got to be laughing at you for doing an
Obama with this car. Its thread after thread of poor workmanship
and many think this it totally acceptable.
A car should not have to be ""fixed"" to the tune of the C7
for an owner to take delivery
It seems like a lot of you have no idea how car delivery works.
I am not saying the thread starters doesn't have legitimate gripes - but cars get damaged in transit all the time and are repaired without the buyer having a clue.
My parents bought a Subaru in the late 90's. Driving down the road one day, the hood flew up and smashed the windshield at 50MPH on the road. The hood was damaged during transit and replaced without them knowing.
I'd pass too if I was him, but you all act like this is some freak occurrence.
Based off the way it was described, there seems to be no way of knowing if the car was damaged before or after delivery. These things could've happened at the dealer. We used to have a tech meet the trucker at our delivery lot and go over them as soon as they came off the truck. Scratches happened all the time. They were fixed and customers never complained. The taillight and other parts are easy fixes. Don't give up this easy, man.

Not sure what "doing an Obama means", but wow, did Prez Obama actually build this car?!?!? Can we get a picture of him driving it off the line?
Can I ask that he make mine, please!?
Now we know why the government shut down because he's making Corvettes! I wonder if House Speaker Boner is down in Nashville doing the QC?
Mmmmmmmm....politics DOES make strange bedfellows, doesn't it?!?!?!
Since I did not read all the posts, were there any miles on the car, seems to me as dirty as you describe the car & without cover, it is possible someone was driving your new Vette and damaged it in the process.
To the OP. I hope you devise to do what makes you happy. Why not have a good look at the car when they finish and make your decision in peace. All I can say is that it's one hell of a car that you'll enjoy either way if you get this one or order a new one.
I'm of the mindset that as soon as you drive the car on the street, it subject to all types of dirt and damage that you could have to fix etc. my expectation would be that it's fixed to perfection whether its cosmetic or mechanical.

I made myself very happy and bought a Audi R8 no complaints. I am sure I will buy another stingray down the road. I am in no hurry now, just disappointed. When I ordered my 2006 Z06 it took almost a year to get the car,and I was at dealer when the truck pulled up. Car was perfect and still is.

Hey callchuck,
If you have reached out to one of our phone agents regarding your C7's delivery, please shoot us a PM with your case number. While the delivery was a big let down, we want to make sure the rest of your experience goes smoothly.

One has to ask who is doing the QC in Nashville? Is GM doing it or did they hire an outside source? Why would they keep cars three + weeks only to send them out damaged?
I ate lunch with the Quality manager for Corvette at this years Carlisle and that was the first day production started and all the talk was about no cars will be shipped to the customer until they are perfect. This is what makes me think someone else is doing the QC
sorry - this is disgusting if true as reported...the BG Plant manager should fly out on inspect this car and explain it...too many videos showing how much they spent and care, to have his happen...yeah, lots of drama here for the one shot problems, but this shows somebody clearly just did not care and put it on a truck to have it fixed down the line...
Lol, I'm pretty sure the BG plant manager has more important things to do than tend to a small scratch on someone's bumper.
What you described would do it for me to. When it isn't your first rodeo you start to get the feeling it just isn't meant to be. It more work then it's worth at that point, I'd walk away too. Plus, give it six months and you'll save yourself a bunch of money.

Unfortunately, this buyer did have a clue because they did NOT repair it. The point was that the car sat in Nashviile due to who knows what issues and they still delivered him a damaged car. I would not have taken it either, I don't care how common it is.
I personally would have gone to the dealership and observed the damage for myself. I then would have photographed the damage and told them to fix it. If I was happy with the repair, I would have purchased the car and gone happily down the road. If I were unhappy with the repair, I would have passed on the car.
I am pretty OCD about my cars, but I have also learned that no car is perfect and if you drive it at all, it will not remain perfect. But, that's just me...
OP which dealer did you work with? Thronton? I was there Tuesday and saw a triple black car.
I was there last Friday and saw the yellow one, they didn't have a black one yet. Talked my sales guy and another guy (not sure what his position is, but he seems to know a lot) and he and I talked about the "unofficial" ZR1 model coming out...
