Those of you familiar with my C6 Navigation Tutorial will immediately feel at home in this document as well. PDF format, 27 pages for now. Much, much more to follow.
This is not going to be a substitute for hands on experience with the system. You will still need to take some time and familiarize yourself with the system. This will let you hit the ground running after you pick up your car.
I searched but no answer. I believe the Nav system comes with a package, but do you have to pay a subscription yearly for the Nav system? Never had a Nav system in the car, just used a GPS unit or google maps. Thanks
Nope, GPS signals are provided for free. The in-car navigation simply receives coordinate transmissions from the satellites and translates those coordinates graphically and transposes it on to a moving map display.
The only additional cost is going to come over time when updates become available to the map database contained in the unit. Those are optional and at the users discretion. For example, there was an updated map DVD (the C6 used DVD based navigation data) for the C6 released once per year each October. Some owners opted for the update to see if new roads were available in their geographic region and others did not. Some were still driving with the 2005 DVD in 2013. It comes down to the age of the area you live in (streets, developments, businesses, etc.) as to whether or not a newer map matters to you. Cost and timing of updates for the C7 hasn't been released yet.

Thank you. This info should be enough to get me started on my 3 hour ride home from Rick Corvette Conti in Columbus OH to Indianapolis area tomorrow. Can't wait. Hope I can sleep tonight before that 6 hours of driving tomorrow.
Thanks everyone. I'll have a revision up tomorrow adding a section on the IP display and the various bits of information available by scrolling up and down in the center display.
Paul, this looks great. Quick question, on page 6 at the edges of the screen, there are arrows next to the icons, as if you can page left and right. On my screen, those errors are non-functional. Is it because I have no additional icons, or is it something that I should have checked out at the dealership?
Paul, thanks great job, I will be using this weekend and appreciate today's consult.

John, no problem at all. My pleasure. Please make sure you send me those pictures and that info I was asking you about. I have a lot of people very interested in that information.

That is correct. The arrows are for subsequent menu pages and currently there isn't anything there.
