BTW, I was tired of being ripped off by my broker. Switched to Progressive last night and saved a lot of money. Saved about $120. My broker was telling me to get 100/300/100 coverage it would cost me over $400/mo. Progressive got it for me for $270/mo with a $1 (really! 1 dollar) down payment.
It sucks being in LA when it comes to car insurance doesn't it? The good news is your car insurance rates will go down as you get older. The bad news is your health insurance rates will eat that up and then some.
At least we have good weather and can drive all year round.
I'm getting ripped off... My broker said the c7 is too new and the rates are high because of it. I told them that's BS. They quoted me 290/mo with my daily driver Camry. I have a clean record and I'm 30 years old. Something is wrong.
Needless to say I'll be shopping around.
Check with Met Life Home and Auto - they undercut Traveler's on our three cars ('08 Jeep, '13 Vette, '11 Caddy) by $400/year. I think our total for all three cars is about $1500/year.

are you sure that's 270 per month? I'm your age and i'm getting 250/500/100 for 339/ 6 months from geico...

Well, I found out why my rate is high... Even though I have a clean record, a suspension from 4 years ago is still on my record. It was a bullsh!t ticket too... A registration ticket on a car I'd just bought that day and was heading to the DMV. Totally forgot to handle it and bingo! A suspension on my record.
It means nothing to anyone, but allows the insurance companies to triple or quadruple my rates just because. I'm not a high risk driver or anything... Stupid suspension is going to be there for 3 more years. So I'm going to call a family friend (an attorney) and see if there's anything that can be done to get it expunged.
SAFECO just told me that the national insurance database that they use has not been updated with the 2014 C7 code. They quoted me over $1200 a year for now, which was a third higher than I have been paying for my 2009 ZO6. I just called the NCM and purchased their policy, as I have a NCM delivery scheduled for 11/15.
We have Met as well. My C7 rate is around $400+/year. It's less than the 2013 C6 GS I traded in, and, surprisingly, cheaper than our 2011 Caddy CTS Coupe ($500+), which makes no sense to me at all. We also pay about $250/yr for our 2008 Cherokee Laredo, which was involved in a deer-strike last year ('tho I don't think they up-rated us for that).
Several years ago, my wife and I were reviewing our credit records with the "majors." There were all kinds of ancient credit card records that we asked to have removed. We're talking 30-year-old Sears cards that were never used. No negatives or late pays, just "old stuff."
Got our next annual bill from Traveler's Ins. - it jumped almost $600/year because they said we didn't have enough "credit history." As it turns out, the insurance companies have their own rating system, and it has nothing to do with your FICO score (ours is 800-plus).
These threads really don't do anything, as EVERYONE's insurance will be different--even with the same company. Insurance is based upon the individual and the vehicle.
Factors:
Age
Driving history
Credit score << big factor these days
Location
Etc...
Good to see what others are paying, but really means nothing.
