I have Bose audio in both of my cars and I'm very happy with the sound quality. Perhaps a bit more bass emphasis than some systems, but that can be compensated.
I have high-end home theater and a good ear for high fidelity audio and don't understand those who say Bose systems sound inferior. Audio systems are subjective, so get what ever sounds good to you.

My Bose system (3lt) sounded terrible with the XM radio. I went down and bought an Ipod touch and bought some tunes off Itunes, downloaded at high speed and it sounds great.

I've owned a few cars in my time with BOSE audio. All have been terrible and eventually replaced (although I have not heard the C7 system). Currently rock'n the Bang and Olufsen system in my S4, which for a factory system is very nice- only a $800 option as well.

I'm disappointed by this thread. After being thoroughly spoiled by the sound system in my Acura TL and hearing the wonderful Dynaudio system in the (much much cheaper) VW Gof R, this thread vexes me. I'm very vexed.

10x better than the c6 system (comparing 3LT c7 bose) but yes, all bose stuff sucks. Doesn't compare to the alpine system in my friends Dodge 3/4 ton. That is the best factory stereo I've heard.
