I have been out of town so I only have 400 or so miles on the Corvette. After reading about the paint issues I started to look over mine. As there is some dirt now on my car, one of the flaws is much more visible. It was not made my road debris. It is way to straight and precise for that. I don't know what caused it. I am waiting to hear back from my dealer. My dealer is over 60 miles away so I at least want it documented so it can get fixed when I bring her in for an oil change or whatever. I will look over the rest of the car when it's light out tomorrow. It's the panel above the rear windshield.
Isn't everyone relieved that GM waited until they got their processes perfected before starting production of cars that were to be sold to the retail customer. I wonder if anyone looked at the 300 captured test cars for defects before they left the factory.

I agree GM could have done better in the paint department on this car. However, I am still totally satisfied overall with the car. I am not excusing the paint problems whatsoever. The car is just such a pleasure to drive!

Out of all the potential problems I could imagine with a new model year, paint was never on my radar. Not sure what to think about some of the stuff that's being shown.
I waxed mine today, checked every inch, even painted undersidesp. NO flaws. I was expecting some but am well pleased. My vin's last four is 3385. Maybe start spreadsheet to see if are trends like days of the week built or colors.
That looks like nothing... just grab some paint cleaner and rub the black marks off. Is it under the clear or something?
My camera doesn't show it well. It's not scuffed. There is actually paint missing. At first I thought it was residue from a sticker, but it's not. Something made contact along that line and stripped it.

Yep, and my money would be the wheel used by the dealer when they prepped the car. That looks like a classic polishing wheel mistake. Hold your dealers feet to the fire on this one, I doubt that left BG that way.
Okay, so I was able to get most of it off. It looks like some adhesive was sealed under a coat of wax or polish. I will work on it tomorrow. I did find a genuine factory defect. I don't know how this got past quality control. Not sure how I want this handled .
The area of this car is with the rear hatch open. It's where the fender rear quarter panel inside of the hatch. To give you a better idea, that is the rear quarter panel vent on the passenger side of the car.
